@Gaucho you wouldn't have any idea (it's probably before your time) of how many hockey fans knew about the NHL in the late 70's and early 80's would you? Like, obviously they weren't watching games or anything. But was it known about? Was there any coverage in newspapers at all? By 1981, about 10% of skaters in the German League had NHL experience, so surely the players were aware...but any sense of people below the German League players themselves?TIL the Pens apparently added Erich Kuhnhackl to our reserve list...
The Canucks dropped him from their list and Pittsburgh has since put him on theirs. News of this a few days ago brought a small rush of angry mail to the Vancouver club´s Coliseum offices.

Well, I composed a longish reply and then the site crashed. Cheers. In short: there was basically no coverage, but players and fans certainly knew about and of the NHL. At the WCs and Olympics Canada was always missing its best players because they were too busy playing the NHL, they were the only nation on a level with the invincible Soviets, but its players had better things to do. That left quite an impression on my young mind.

I'd claim Adam Gaudette off waivers from Chicago if Lafferty is still up with us, I'd place him on waivers to make room...if he's not, I guess we don't have room for him...

Lafferty is still up. Honestly forgot he existed. That was awesome. On the topic of weird and unnecessary one-way deals FGMJR did, is Anthony Angello dead?

Evan Rodrigues' goal Saturday was the 13850th in the history of the Pens. His 16 goals represent 0.11% of the 13852 total goals.
For comparison, Crosby's 488th (team 13852nd) puts him at 3.52% of team goals. Mario's 690 is 4.98%. (10026 was the total goals as of Mario's final game, or 6.88% at the time - Mario's final goal was the 9991st in team history - the 2nd goal in the Crosby shootout winner against Montreal on 11-10-2005)
Assuming a full season this year, someone will score the 14000th goal in team history this season. 148 to go, with 61 games to go, at 2.905 goals for per game - would be 177 more goals expected.

Strange to see Geno wearing a CCM helmet considering he's worn the same Bauer model since practically his rookie year (he came into the league with the Reebok that Crosby wore, then switched to Bauer).
