Based on this thread I think people alternate spending their weekends emptying their hot water tank or sucking out dryer lint. This is a thing?Have you drained the hot water heater recently?

Put pantyhose on the end of the hose so that debris doesn’t fill your sump, if you’re draining it into that.Recommend to do it annuallyThis is a thing?Have you drained the hot water heater recently?

Thank you gentlemen! That tip is a great one thanks. Is potential debris heavy enough to tear through one pair of hose?Put pantyhose on the end of the hose so that debris doesn’t fill your sump, if you’re draining it into that.Recommend to do it annuallyThis is a thing?Have you drained the hot water heater recently?

Nah, and the water pressure isn’t going to be enough to push it through with force. If you do start doing it, there are a few ways to go about it. This is what I do (also what was recommended to me):
1. Unplug the hot water heater
2. Turn off the gas and cold water inlet
3. Open the kitchen faucet to full hot
4. Connect a hose (with pantyhose) to the water heater and run to the sump
5. Open the drain valve on the water heater
6. Once drained, open the cold water inlet for 5-10 minutes to let it flush out
7. Close the drain valve
8. Plug in the hot water heater
9. Turn the gas back on and let the tank fill completely, leaving the hot water faucet open
10. When water comes out of the faucet, the tank is full

Don't quote me on this, but I'd say water since natural gas turns to liquid at a very low temp.

Only if the plumber goes by that. Pex comes in red, blue, and white, and I've seen some installs all using a single color. Lazy.

Pretty excited. Getting a hot/cold mini-split for our sunroom, making it an all season room, and I'm moving my office in there. Went from two windows, to surround by windows. Can't freaking wait.

If it's one of those new fangled silent ones, you have to clean out the filter every once in a blue moonok so while we are still on the topics of sht no one does, should I be doing anything to clean the dishwasher

Good stuff. I have a filter, I have looked at it, I have tried to take it out, it didn't come out, and I was too lazy to go to youtube to figure out how to take it out. thank you for doing the heavy work of going to cascadeclean.com

My unofficial rule of thumb is anything under a few hundred bucks I don't bother with preventative maintenance and being that my dishwasher came with the house, it's running maintenance free until it doesn't run.
