I was watching Billy Strings cover Tennessee Stud. Great cover, but WTF is up with this right ear lobe? Is that a gauge gone wrong? Why do people continue to do that?

I kinda wanted to see this but debated against it because they were spending half a set covering Rush.Apparently Primus played Stage AE last night and covered Rush's A Farewell to Kings. Talk about wishing you could go back in time.
That's not a knock on Rush, although admittedly I'm not the biggest Rush fan.
But if I buy tickets to see Primus, I want them to play primarily Primus.

I love bands that play covers. But half a set? Yeesh. That's like Dream Theater who have done shows where they play an entire Iron Maiden album. And then you have actual Iron Maiden who every other tour plays 90% 'other' from their back catalog/newest release, which might as well be covers.

The new John Prine tribute album is pretty good, although I do not like the trend of female Americana singer/songwriters that warble and can't really hold up to the singer part. There are three tracks on the album which are skippable; all three are singers of this ilk. I like Amanda Shires' harmony work with her husband and with the Highwomen, but that low rent Patsy Cline **** is awful. Then there's whatever the **** this is:
I'm sitting listening to this in my office on Friday, and say out loud "Oh hell no..." and skip it. WTF?
Why not use Sierra Hull's version?

That Valerie June cover, whatever the hell that is, is an abomination. Stupid, stupid indie voice.

As sad as this is, at 0:50 I lost it. The fact it was during All Star makes it so much funnier.

What's also funny is they're 1-hit wonders who resent their 1-hit and hate playing it. dodints, that's the only reason you can still draw a 4-figure crowd.

Really enjoying the deluxe/super-duper version of Let It Be that dropped on Friday. Lots of jams, studio banter, and other stuff that will probably be featured in Peter Jackson's Get Back documentary next month. Good stuff.

First post-covid show this weekend, went to some random diy space in mount Oliver. Friend of a friend was opening, carryover from the music talk in the golf thread, the headliner was a pop punk/emo band from Cleveland i’d never heard of, Signals Midwest. Maybe it was just gleeful to see live
music, but I am digging them.

@Gaucho have you heard Brandi Carlile's new album? Very Joni-esque in places. Excellent all around.
