The constant taxi squad shuffling has made it difficult to follow minor transactions this year. I hadn’t realized that Big Z was jettisoned back to WBS. This entire setup makes me empathetic toward guys like Angello and Gaudreau. Play on Saturday, collecting an NHL check for a day, get jettisoned to the taxi squad for two days in between games to collect their AHL checks (100k and 350k respectively) so the team can save on cap space and spending, while still practicing like active members of the NHL squad.
Angello has played in 19 games this year but has only been on the NHL roster for 24 days versus 58 in the minors/taxi squad thanks to 29 individual transactions. I don’t feel too bad for him because he moves to a one way deal at $750k next season, but he’s made $150k this season in NHL money when in a normal year that would easily be doubled for someone who has played in half of the teams games.
Edit: Upon further review, AHL pay is a **** mess this season. Everyone is guaranteed at least 40% of their contracted pay, players at $62,500 are getting paid $30,000, and everyone above $62,500 is paid at 48% of their contracted salary. If a player is on the taxi squad he gets 100% of his AHL pay. So with that being the case, taxi squad me to **** death. Zohorna's 7 days on the NHL roster this season paid him almost $50,000, which is about $16,000 more than he'd make in the AHL for the entire season.

At what point does that create bad blood between players and management?but he’s made $150k this season in NHL money when in a normal year that would easily be doubled for someone who has played in half of the teams games.

Given my edit that was inconveniently posted after your response, I think players are more likely to take it in stride given the situation in the AHL. The daily dick around sucks, but it's better than the alternative. At what point does that create bad blood between players and management?but he’s made $150k this season in NHL money when in a normal year that would easily be doubled for someone who has played in half of the teams games.

So is this just a long string of bad luck for the franchise? It's comical at this point.

This team to a man almost is simply not equipped as is to make it through a season. Whether it's style of play, offseason conditioning being a joke, or the back end rehab not up to snuff. Something needs to change because it's a decade of this sht

It's definitely not their style of play...

Maybe we'll get lucky and Blueger will return to the lineup for the next game.

Training and medical staff need to be overhauled? Maybe Hextall and Burke can address that this offseason...

The only constant is the medical, rehab, & strength and conditioning staff. I overhaul the entire department this off-season. Not saying that these are soft tissue injuries that are their fault but change for the sake of change at this point is worth investigating.Training and medical staff need to be overhauled? from 2009 to 2017 we were in the second most injured team
I wonder what that stat looks like now. It's here but behind a paywall https://www.mangameslost.com/the-most-i ... 11-season/

There are injuries that are bad luck, nothing you can do. Blocking a shot, breaking a foot.. things of that ilk. And a lot of the injuries you could isolate and say yeah, what can you do there? Just bad luck. But after a decade of bad luck I just don't think it's luck anymore as a whole.I think its just bad luckThis team to a man almost is simply not equipped as is to make it through a season.
