I approve of that outcome.
What I thought was going to happen was the rears were going to hook up and the dingus in the yellow was going to get mowed down.

And this may be the rest of it:There's a good chance that this is the rear end of the C8. If so, woof.

I'm thinking of pulling a dodint and buying a crazy old vehicle simply because I think it's cool. Only I don't have a fraction of his income so I might be making a huge mistake.
Looking at a 1987 Wrangler YJ. 196K miles but the seller has done a ton of work to it. Asking $4K. I might go look at it this weekend if I can't talk myself out of it.

Only one of my cars is worth more than about $8k, fwiw.
I don't buy expensive cars, just interesting ones. I paid the same amount for my DMC as someone buying a new base model Ford Explorer or Honda Pilot would.
But, yeah, go for it. If you wait until next weekend I can go with you if younwant a second set of eyes.

I might take you up on that. Still waiting to hear back from the seller. I don't have 1/5 of your car knowledge which is why I'm so wary.

I'm not a huge Jeep person. The closest I've owned to that is an '80 Toyota Pickup/Hilux. I'm full of general car knowledge to help spot common issues, though. It will be too old for OBD scanning so I wouldn't be able to pull any self-diagnostic codes, unfortunately. Let me know, happy to answer questions here/PM or go check it out with you. My wife is taking her own vacation to Texas next weekend so I don't have any conflicts there.

The guy across from me at the gas station is filling his new BMW M8 Coupe with 87.

Hey pal you don't save up 130k to buy a car by blowing it on +6 octane.

Plaid tank top, plaid shorts, and a fake tan. I actually laughed when I saw the combination.

C8 Corvette reveal was interesting. The car just looks like a cobbling together of borrowed design ideas. I need to see it in person before settling on a hot take.

Going by the pictures alone, I'm not really a fan. It just looks weird. The interior is probably the worst part:

The unending single row of switches is just bizarre.

Oh dear buttons down the RH side, when you have a freaking tablet easily within reach. Hid-E-us. Why not just use Alexa for crying out loud.
Showed my wife the leaked pictures yesterday evening. She guessed Lambo. Showing it in red made me think Ferrari, like a 355.
Anything but a Vette.

I read the perfect summary on another forum last night: "Not bad, but it instantly feels like a car that has already been on the market a couple of years. A total clean sheet performance car should stun. I think they played it a little too conservatively..."
The car doesn't look original. It's a Camaro rear end, Mclaren hips, NSX mid-body, with a weird stubby Corvette beak on the front. But most importantly it looks old already. Kind of like the generic supercar in Grand Theft Auto that looks just enough like the car its emulating that you can tell what it is but without them having to have bought a licensing agreement.
All that said, 0-60 in under 3 seconds with a 495hp mid engine, DCT, full coil over sports car for under $60k is objectively awesome value. Congrats to GM in that regard.

I think the Corvette looks pretty decent, and the price/performance ratio is unbeatable. I'm disappointed at the absence of a manual-transmission option, but heck, even Ferrari hasn't offered one of those for years.

Only comes in 8 speed automatic. Guess the manual transmissions in any sports car will soon be unavailable. Friend of mine has a 2016 with a 7 speed manual. Got to drive it once, really nice.
