No, this location is. There is one hotel within five miles. There's nothing around, which is amazing considering the city it's in.The Bronx, NY is in the middle of nowhere?

There are three places I will always recommend. The Purple Pig, The Girl & The Goat, Frontera Grill.where should i eat in chi-town next month?
We have one among our ranks who has eaten at Alinea, but that's a completely different kind of recco.

You're welcome for my service. With their relaunch it seems like Alinea is a bit more accessible, but it's still pricey as ****. We didn't make it to The Purple Pig or The Girl & The Goat, but they're always highly ranked. Frontera Grill is great, as is Xoco which is right next door. We also loved Mexique but it looks like Carlos Gaytan closed it down back in May.There are three places I will always recommend. We went to Giordano's and I'll just say we had a very different experience which kept it off my recco list.

I second Portillo's for Italian Beef. I also encourage Lou Malnati's for deep dish.where should i eat in chi-town next month?
if you want a destination-type meal out I encourage you to get a reservation at Girl and The Goat. http://girlandthegoat.com/
Lena Brava is on my list for next time. I've heard that the Black Cod Pastor is incredible. http://www.rickbayless.com/restaurants/lena-brava/
many people consider Au Cheval to have the best burger in Chicago. I thought it was good but I've had better elsewhere. http://auchevalchicago.com/

To echo the shoeshiner, Lou Malnati's would be my deep dish recommendation as well, largely because it's the only kind I've had and its **** awesome.

@tifosi77, or anyone else for that matter, any info on Marina del Rey? I'll be out there between the 13th-17th of December and was wondering if there are any good spots to go to to eat, drink, etc. Thanks.

imo the lou malnatis on n wells is good and if you have to wait, grab a beer at the pepper canister, which is solidly one notch above a dive

I lived in Venice for three years and my grad school was very close to Marina del Rey so I know the area well. Marina del Rey is weird as ****. There's a free water taxi, so that's something. It's also the former location of the Bluth's Original Frozen Banana Stand. I believe there is a restaurant within the marina but according to everyone I ever spoke to that went there, it's absolutely garbage. My advice would be to check out Venice. Go to the "boardwalk," ignore everybody that tries to hand you their mix cd and you'll be fine. Also, Abbot Kinney is an awesome street with a few really cool bars/restaurants. https://www.abbotkinneyblvd.com@tifosi77, or anyone else for that matter, any info on Marina del Rey? There's a Yard House in the Marina. Where will you be staying? Depending on which part of MDR you're in, it could just be a few minutes' walk to the Venice Boardwalk, which is fun. More options there. The Whaler was a favorite happy hour place, but not so big as a sports bar iirc.

Thanks for the info guys. My younger sister set up the rental so I don't know exactly where the house is at, but I think it is a short walk to the shore. Will likely only have a chance to go to something Thursday or Sunday night. The rest of the trip is booked for the wedding. Looks like we are getting drinks at The Lincoln on Friday night, and going to the beach on Sunday near the Galleon Street lifeguard tower. What I am really looking forward to is the cousin that is getting married is half Malaysian, that side of the family is coming over as well. They offered to cook one of the nights

If you've got a free day, the Bronx Zoo is arguably the best zoo in the country.

That looks fun...I'm probably not getting up there until late Sunday evening and coming back Monday at like 9:30 AM, lol. I thought about leaving earlier Sunday but not sure yet.

Yeah? That’s too bad. I go there every time I’m in Chicago. Only been four times but haven’t had a bad experience yet.We went to Giordano's and I'll just say we had a very different experience which kept it off my recco list.
