Completely out of left field, my kids wrote a book about ninjas coming into the house and me being unprepared and then got me a 2 month package for taekwondo and a karate uniform...

Sort of sad day yesterday. Normally when I get home from work, I take the baby so my wife can have a break for a while. I got home and took her and she just started screaming at the top of her lungs. She didn't need changed, I got her a pacifier, I even put her in her favorite holding position where she never cries... nothing worked. Handed her back to her mom, she stopped immediately.
I know that at that age and into the younger years kids want their moms more than dads, but this was my first real dose of it.

She started again when I went to give her the before bed bottle... then she pooped the biggest poop ever to be pooped, and stopped screaming. I think we can all relate to that.

So we're a week short of the 3 month mark... little one has figured out that she loves sucking her thumb which has made sleeping awesome because after the pacifier falls out she just goes to the thumb instead of screaming, and she loves rolling over which has made diaper changes, ummm.. interesting.

Gotta learn the figure four leg lock. Picture Hulk Hogan’s leg drop, but instead of Rocky, it is your baby and instead of Hulk Hogan, it is you.So we're a week short of the 3 month mark... little one has figured out that she loves sucking her thumb which has made sleeping awesome because after the pacifier falls out she just goes to the thumb instead of screaming, and she loves rolling over which has made diaper changes, ummm.. interesting.

My son just stopped sucking his thumb (we think). He’s 4. We told him he’d have Mater teeth if he didn’t stop. Apparently that worked.

I just registered my daughter for before/after school care for this upcoming year, and found that the center changed their policy regarding payment. They used to charge for the full week, regardless of how many days you used them - like most places - but now allow you to only pay for the days you have your child in care. That's nearly $5k back into my pocket.

Wow, that is not common. Our center gives you one free vacation week, which is better than nothing I guess.I just registered my daughter for before/after school care for this upcoming year, and found that the center changed their policy regarding payment. I'm reviewing the school calendar (before/after care and elementary school), and man, I don't remember having this many days off when I was a kid.

You should see how many a catholic institution gets. My brother works for a catholic college and he has all kind of random days off throughout the year. Totes jelly.

Dropped the two kids off for a week at camp yesterday. They'll be home a couple of days and then go to my aunt's house for a week.
I am a little bit too excited about this...
I'll probably start missing them in a day or two, but I will enjoy the quiet and time with my wife.

I'm not dealing well with my kid leaving for college next month. Not as much with the he's going away part as I am seriously in midlife crisis mode. Keep thinking back to where I was the summer between high school and college like he is now and coming up with- OMG that was 29 years ago and now I'm pushing 50.
Enjoy it kiddos, it goes fast.

Does anyone else's kids really, REALLY enjoy watching HGTV?
My younger son...who is nine, gets excited to watch nearly everything on that network. It started at my parents' house a couple of summers ago, as my folks have that on in the background. My older son likes it as well, but he doesn't stop Fortnite/video games to watch it...
Is it weird for a rising fourth grader to talk about comps and shiplap?
Sunday nights in July they have beach house hunters, and he really liked the looks of the houses in Puerto Plata in the DR. And to be honest, it was remarkably inexpensive compared to other places in the Caribbean.
