Bookmark this for early spring and unusually warm February.Pretty darn unreliable.Current miserable weather prompted me to look at the long term. Accuweather is saying an early spring, how reliable is that? Early spring meaning February is consistently projected to be in the 40’s then going to the 50’s in March, which is what they are forecasting

I see you dissin my boy Rankine.Kelvin is measured on absolute temperatures (zero is as low as you go)
Celsius is based on water.
Fahrenheit is based on danger to humans being outside.
They all have their place.

They were predicting a mild Christmas in early December, so I do have some faith. I think precipitation is a dart throw, but temps were pretty much spot on

Yes but what does the farmers almanac say?

The temps are based on seasonal averages, so they are generally going to be close to reality. But it's not going to pick up storms or shorter duration cold snaps/heat waves

Polar vortex inbound, then.

Sorry, been in covid hell.
Was surprised to get a pretty solid coating of snow out of this. You guys generally make out better on these Clipper type events because the precipitation always gets shredded coming over the mountains. That's why driving up Allegheny Mountain is a dodint in any snow that is being driven from west of the mountains, which is most of it. Clouds are basically getting wringed like a sponge as they bunch up.
Even a light snow in Pittsburgh can be magnified into a damn snow squall on the windward side of the Apps.
Summer thunderstorms are not as affected because you are talking 35-40k cloud tops.

We got like 3 or 4 unexpected inches here.
Weather Thread
We got about 4-5 I'd say. Annoying, not expecting it and driving to the game today through it
Weather Thread
My phone tells me we may get a similar amount tomorrow afternoon as well

Seems Penn dot was also once again not expecting it. Main arteries snow covered. Turnpike was ok but state routes had only the slow lanes.
Weather Thread
Even the turnpike on the way to the game was pretty bad

Was that weird fluffy snow too. Not too heavy, just kind of crap for any kind of fun.

Still some days out, but models signaling at a major East Coast snowstorm this weekend.
I think the 1993 comparisons are very premature, but the potential for a historic storm is there.

This is setting up as a coastal storm, which means it's unlikely that you guys get much.Shad are we getting a blizzard or not
That said, the big storm last week was projected to be a coastal storm too, and the track moved further and further NW as the week went on, to the point where you guys actually had mixing issues way out there.
I don't see that happening now, but who knows.

I'm **** tired of snow. Bring on the 45 degree weather imo

I'd like it to be warm a day to determine if my washer fluid lines are frozen or not. Don't think I have all-weather fluid in there lmao.

I just want the old crap to melt.
Weather Thread
If it melts I have to clean up all the dog **** in the yard that I've been throwing the driveway snow onto. Ignorance is bliss.
