COVID-19
one of my friends took to Facebook to complain about the CDC saying that masks can be removed indoors if you're vaccinated. she has 2 kids under 12 who aren't eligible yet and she's upset that now they can't go to Brewers games this Summer without worrying about sitting next to some unvaxxed idiot. if you're that worried about your kids getting COVID (no issue with that. you do you Boo) then maybe you could just stay home and watch the games on TV?

Face Masks
As of May 14, 2021, the Pirates will no longer require guests who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to wear a face mask while at PNC Park. Guests who are not yet fully vaccinated against COVID-19 must continue to wear a face mask while at PNC Park, as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

So then no one will be wearing them. They are not now...if you are fully vaccinated.PNC park is still requiring masks.

But how are they actually enforcing this? Do you have to show proof, or is it the honor system? If the latter, then the policy means nothing. They are not now...if you are fully vaccinated.PNC park is still requiring masks.

No idea how they are enforcing it. I'm guessing the honor system. I mean in all honesty it's an outdoor park. The chances of catching covid are probably next to none anyways... *shrug*

I'm guessing even with expanded capacity limits you'll have zero problem spacing out at PNC. Pre-covid I would always sit a few innings in my decent seats then move to the nosebleeds with nobody around me around the 5th inning. No idea how they are enforcing it. I'm guessing the honor system. Yeah, this is basically just a middle finger to the anti-vax crowd. There is no way anyone is going to enforce the mask mandate by making people prove they are vaccinated. So, masks are done for everyone that is done wearing a mask.

I just called my gym to see what their policy was. Mask mandate ends on the 19th, then only required if you are not vaccinated, and that is going to be based on an "honor system".

Yeah I really don't see the big deal there at all. It's an outdoor stadium. There is not much to be concerned about especially when it's not going to be closed to packed anyways. It's time to rip the bandaid off for outdoor events especially.

My issue is with fans making right choices.
And it's not like a playoff game or packed stadium.

Hockey and basketball venues should make a determination if their event staff have all had ample access to the vaccine, and if so re-open at full capacity without masks. Remove the requirement for coaches as well of course.
If someone wants to take their kids, that's up to them, and families can mask up if they want. But indoor...outdoor...let's go.
We're at the point where we're inventing reasons for private businesses to be cautious. I think the toy store makes sense to keep a mask requirement because it's possibly better for business. But for most places it's time to move on.

I think the only people getting the shaft here are those that are reluctant to get the vaccine for some sort of good faith health concern. In that case, you are still at risk of getting covid and the anti-vaxers who are now going to roam maskless in the wild pose a threat to you. But seriously, at this point hundreds of millions have gotten the shot, there's been like a dozen j&j blood clots, if you want to participate safely in society, get the vaccine.

i think this scenario breaks the brains of soccer mom twitter. where us normies will be able to go live life, and the vulnerable will be forced to stay home. i think with a lot of people, there's an immediate instinct to think that's too unfair and we should all continue to stay home in solidarity.I think the only people getting the shaft here are those that are reluctant to get the vaccine for some sort of good faith health concern. My 7-year old is (used to be?) a pretty good indoor climber. Naturally, we haven't been to the climbing gym ever since COVID started. Yesterday I called to find out whether they would resume kids climbing clubs, and what kinds of protocols they plan to follow (thinking that since climbing requires repeated touching of small rocks, boulders, etc. - they'd better follow some precautions). Instead, I was told - masks fully optional since May 1, full capacity, no social distancing, no extra cleaning...I just called my gym to see what their policy was. Mask mandate ends on the 19th, then only required if you are not vaccinated, and that is going to be based on an "honor system".
