What would cause my RAM speed settings to reset to default multiple times over the lifetime of a motherboard?
I'm cursing and raging at the BF2042 demo because of poor performance, when I notice that my DDR 3000 RAM has reset to 2133 mHz for some reason. This is the second or third time this has happened with this motherboard, and I never get a hard crash or error that would make me think something is wrong. I updated the BIOS several months ago, but went and checked the RAM speed and it was fine. Weird and frustrating.

If you haven’t updated your bios, which usually changes those settings, then the only other thing I can think of would be an overclocking app like Ryzen Master that is busted.

I don't use anything but the Radeon Adrenalin software. But that would be very AMD to have their own software do something like that lol

Expired SSL cert fun this morning. These people manage this server but don't keep track of their certs?

Any idea why the search function in file explorer would stop working? It tries to search, but only brings up a green status bar that never completes nor pulls up any files. It just sort of continues acting like it's searching for eternity.
I really need to get rid of this POS computer...

Click on Start and type in Search Index - launch Indexing Options. Click on Advanced and select the Rebuild button. This will rebuild your search index.

Search is running. I tried to rebuild the search index. It says it might take a while and I clicked okay, then nothing happens. I don't know if it's running in the background or if it's just not doing anything, ha.

Once I finish a couple shoots in early Nov, I really think I'm ditching this desktop and solely working off my laptop. It's not worth the trouble it's been lately.

Apple must have a large number of clown designers - they put a notch in the new Macbook Pro M1:
And I'm already seeing reports of issues with Citrix, since that notch **** with the resolution, and scales the desktop causing mouse clicks to actually click a little further away from the intended spot.

Dell has been bugging me about renewing the warranty on my law firm laptop, a mid-range anonymous drone laptop I bought from them a few years ago for a few hundred dollars. Not worth paying for an extended service plan. They sent me one final e-mail a few days ago.
So today it went full BSOD/Stop Code and now it's hung on boot. Amazing.

I fully endorse one of the newer Acer Aspire models that run a Ryzen CPU. You can get them between $400-$600 on Amazon depending on the chip series.

Looks like it was just choking on an update. It's fine now after a few hard reboots. Just amused at the timing of it all.

Won a Newegg shuffle thing for a 3060ti and an AMD motherboard for $780 or so. I have 55 minutes to make my case to my wife to buy it.

The graphics card should be around $400, and the motherboard no more than $200 (if that)...but scarcity is driving up prices.

so we have two mailboxes for each user: one of the old company name and one of the new company name. Is there a way to turn off the alerts for one of the boxes, so I'm not getting double alerts for everything?
Everything that I found said it's basically an all-or-nothing deal that says either take all of the alerts or none of them.

You could try creating a rule in Outlook to do that (mark as read, etc.), but it'd likely be a client-side rule, so I'm not sure if it would prevent the new mail alert. Should be easy to test.so we have two mailboxes for each user: one of the old company name and one of the new company name. Hmm, no option to disable alerts, so that may not do anything for you. So you could probably automatically move/delete that mail, but may still wind up with alerts on them.

I've been looking for a GPU for my son forever. Like three generations of NVIDIA cards ago.
It didn't occur to me to empty my closet of my older cards. I had a Radeon 6950 that last sold on eBay for $60. OK, fine. It's just sitting in my closet, I'll never use it again. But then I listed the MSI Radeon 390 card...which I bought in 2015, and it's going for $250-300 used right now.

I'm encoding a video right now using ffmpeg, and my Ryzen 9 is just ripping through it. CPU utilization is through the roof, but you wouldn't know it, as my user experience has not changed one bit. Everything is still nice and zippy.

The GPU I bought for $329 in October 2015 is currently bidding for $410 with four days left on the auction. It's madness.

Hardware is absurd right now. Even at work, we can’t get monitors, thin clients, webcams (different reason there), etc.

...and it ended at that price with a bidder from Georgia (the country) with no feedback. I very much doubt I'll get paid for that. The GPU I bought for $329 in October 2015 is currently bidding for $410 with four days left on the auction. It's madness.
