Mrs Tif is napping beside me in our hotel room in Santa Barbara, and I've never been so happy. We're doing a thing at a place, and it's just great.

Some might even say it’s “fabulous!”
Yes, it reminds me of Provincetown actually.

We've rented bikes for our week at Hilton Head for 4 years (and a couple of long weekends here and there, as well). In June 2019, four bikes, baskets, and two locks were $90 for the week. This year? $220. I think one of the bikes is an adult bike, instead of a smaller model, but that shouldn't go up that much for jumping up a size.
Looks like they are recouping their losses for last year. Can't blame 'em, but yikes.
And @NTP66 I heard there was a 2+ hour wait at Skull Creek Boathouse on a Wednesday night last week because every restaurant is understaffed. Ugh.

Oof on both counts. I love SCB, but that is probably over the edge in terms of how long I’ll wait. That said, the concierge at Marriott properties can generally get you in quicker. Frankie Bones, I think I’d wait that long. Is restaurant capacity limited down there? We leave for vacation in two weeks, and I made all of my dinner reservations weeks ago, as there is a 50% capacity restriction. We've rented bikes for our week at Hilton Head for 4 years (and a couple of long weekends here and there, as well). We haven’t been to HH since 2018, I think? My daughter wants to go back, but I don’t want to join the rest of our family because my sisters are horrible to vacation with.

No restrictions, and I'm sure their mask ordinance expired too. We're going down next Saturday.

Taking a flight on AA soon? On a 737? Good luck.
Shocking that AA took piles of cash and did absolutely nothing with it.

Trip home from outer banks went from what should be 9 hours to 15. So many wrecks. Super brutal.

Ughhhhh I'm sorry man. 95 in Virginia? That stretch from Norfolk on 64 onto 95 in NoVA is awful. I'm so happy we can take 13 home.Trip home from outer banks went from what should be 9 hours to 15. So many wrecks. Super brutal.

is SC cutting off Federal supplement UE benefits like GA is? Georgia cuts off the "extra" money next week. I'm guessing those restaurant employees will start looking for jobs then.No restrictions, and I'm sure their mask ordinance expired too. We're going down next Saturday.

The way out which is expected to suck took 2 hours to go 11ish miles. Then it was just slow down due to wreck, slow down due to wreck, etc. 95 is always terrible, we already had plans to get off but that too was clogged with multiple wrecks up to us getting off on 17. The kids shockingly did great for being in the car that long.Ughhhhh I'm sorry man. 95 in Virginia? That stretch from Norfolk on 64 onto 95 in NoVA is awful. The issue is that resort areas have staff shortages every season. It's exacerbated by the sheer numbers of people traveling this year and the inability to get foreign college students over to work because of travel restrictions.
I doubt ending the additional unemployment benefits will help much to be honest.

When we drive back from OBX, even taking 13 up through Delaware which is never congested, we get the kids in the car around 530 AM. Little one usually goes back to sleep, and that gets us home by 1230.
That sounds like a tough trip man.

The 12 hour drive to obx seems daunting with an 18mo and 4 week old so we booked flights to Norfolk and then are driving to Avon from there. May be a pain but 3.5 hours of pain seems like a better deal than 12 hours.
Now just need to figure out the stroller and car seat situations

You can usually rent them from the rental car place for a nominal (or no) charge. The 12 hour drive to obx seems daunting with an 18mo and 4 week old so we booked flights to Norfolk and then are driving to Avon from there. May be a pain but 3.5 hours of pain seems like a better deal than 12 hours.

Check to see which aircraft you're on. This appears to be largely around 737 aircraft, so if you're on an Airbus, perhaps you'll be fine. All of our upcoming flights are on A321s.

Airbus on both flights. Thanks

Yippee, both legs from KC to Philly on 737s at the end of July.

I'm no fan of American, and most of this can be blamed on management offering too many flights, too soon, but to offer a very tepid defense, it does take some time to get aircraft back in the air, and that includes crew. American in the last year retired more aircraft types than any other US airline, and they no longer fly the E190, 757, 767, and A330. The pilots on at least some of those types were likely more senior than others, which means that they would have seniority to displace pilots farther down the seniority ladder when it comes to switching the aircraft they now get to fly, and that displacement keeps moving down the ladder. An A330 pilot decides to switch to the A321, and that displaces an A321 pilot who now has to be retrained on the 737. No commercial pilot can fly a jet without a type rating specific to that jet, and retraining not only takes time, but it takes mandatory simulator time, and there are only so many simulators to go around.

Is this just an AA thing or does it affect 737s on other airlines as well. I've got a flight to Bmore and then to Jamaica in July. I'll be super pissed if it's cancelled.
