It's also sad that it is the most cherished Pirate memory of the past 42 years. And we're coming up on the 8th anniversary of it happening. On the brighter side... I could watch this a thousand times and it wouldn't be enough.

And that was just a freaking wild card game. We're clinging success to a Wild Card lol

Yup. Really sad. I remember the unbridled optimism surrounding the team then. It's also sad that it is the most cherished Pirate memory of the past 42 years. I am still salty as F that because we had the best team in baseball in our division, we got stuck in a winner take all elimination game consecutive years. Your reward for finishing with the second best record in the majors? You get to face MadBum in the wild card game. BS.

the Cubs WC game hurt more. I truly think the Pirates were well-positioned for a WS run that year. Great rotation. But had 1 game vs Arrieta in the way of it

That was the year the Cubs took out Kang, right?
And then in the playoff game, they started SeanRod at first because Alvarez was a disaster?
And yeah, that four man rotation would have been amazing in an actual series (Cole, Happ, Liriano & Burnett). And they had Watson and Melancon pitching lights out to close games. They also had Soria, Blanton and Hughes with sub 3.0 era in the bullpen.

Yeah Kang got hurt in September 2015 it appears.
Alvarez started at 1B per BR. Bastardo was decent in the pen too. Sad

This is going to piss ulf off but get rid of the "touch first" technicality.
We all saw it go out. Who gives af if he even runs the bases

I mean. It's not really that hard of a thing to accomplish. Just ya know... Step on the bag.
Damn it KC we were having such a nice convo reminiscing on the 3 years of glory days of the Pirates that had 3 total postseason wins.

Yep. I truly think the Pirates had the best team in the NL that year, by far. If the Pirates played the Cubs in a 5 game series, they win. Still think they should have started Liriano in that game. Probably wouldn't have mattered anyway.the Cubs WC game hurt more. I truly think the Pirates were well-positioned for a WS run that year. Great rotation. But had 1 game vs Arrieta in the way of it

I would love (hate) to see the types of trade rumors involving Polanco back in 2015.

Truly amazing to me that the idiot that owns the Pirates and his henchmen in the front office don't realize what they could have in those stands in one of the best ballparks in America if they'd just construct a roster correctly.

They were quite steep. Pretty sure FGMNH shot down every one, basically making him untouchable.I would love (hate) to see the types of trade rumors involving Polanco back in 2015.

My only beef with the look of PNC Park is with those cheap looking material they used for the wall behind home plate. It looks like it;s straight out of Home Depot and is everywhere in the exurban Atlanta area where few structures are older than 20 years. Bricks would be much classier.

Yup. 2013 showed that the fans would come out in droves to support a team that cared about winning. The problem is that the way the MLB is set up, it benefits Nutting to not do much in that regard. On the brighter side... I could watch this a thousand times and it wouldn't be enough.

allow me to get my beotch on for a moment. paid attendance last night was 10,957. there was probably fewer than that due to the rain delay. what is the point of charging $12 a beer for 10,957 people? how much money can they possibly be making on a nightly basis on concessions for these games? It has to be laughably small, partially because no one is at these games and partially because only a fraction of the concessions are even open right now.Nutting is exhibit A for relegation is US sports.
management should throw these 7,000-10,000 poor souls a bone and cut the friggin prices at the concession stand as a thank you to the fans for watching Gregory Polanco try to hit against lefthanded pitchers. if they cut the price of beer from an outrageous $12 to a simple price gouging of $7, they wont be losing a material amount of money, especially when you consider how much guaranteed revenue sharing/local tv money/national tv money they get.

Problem is I’m sure they know through data collection that they could charge $12 a beer and know that the same 400 people that used to pay $11 will now pay $12.allow me to get my beotch on for a moment. paid attendance last night was 10,957. there was probably fewer than that due to the rain delay. what is the point of charging $12 a beer for 10,957 people? how much money can they possibly be making on a nightly basis on concessions for these games? And if you think Bob Nutting has an ounce of sympathy you’d be wrong.
