I don't expect the policy in the Giant near me to change, and honestly, think the stores will likely hold off on making changes until they see how things go. Even if they did drop the mask mandate, I'd probably still wear one for a little while until I see how this all goes.

Yeah Giant Eagle is the only major chain that’s come out and said stick with masks for now, as far as I know. (Locally I mean.)
Question for you folks with kids under 12: how do you feel about the new mask guidance? That’s gotta be a weird position.

I'll continue to wear a mask at businesses that ask me to, but anywhere that says i don't have to wear a mask I am leaving it off.

I only ask because my wife said the same thing. She said she’ll probably continue to wear one for a little while. When I asked her why, she’s vaccinated and they showed that vaccinated people have an outrageously high probability of not catching covid and not giving it to someone else she answered it would just make her feel better. I’m not going to argue with my wife over something that puts her in a better spot mentally. I was just curious as to your reason for continuing to wear one.Because I want to wait and see how things go, and I'm not a whiny dodint when it comes to wearing a mask?

Not at all. State college is packed with a pretty decently sized Asian community. They wear masks all the time. I have no problem with people wearing them or wearing them myself. I just ask for the reason why you want to wear one. Will it bother you if people wear masks when covid-19 is no longer a threat? I think it was a shafnutz05 that said it would bother him? I can see people wearing them during flu season. Why?

This is my approach. If a place of business wants me to wear it, I will. If I don't need to, then I'm not going to.I'll continue to wear a mask at businesses that ask me to, but anywhere that says i don't have to wear a mask I am leaving it off.
As for nocera's question about kids under 12, I'm not much worried at all. Mine have been playing sports, and been with their friends, etc for a while now.

Basically, how I'm going to operate. I'll carry one around - but there's gonna come a day that if it goes too long into this, where stores still require it that people would just outright ignore it.I'll continue to wear a mask at businesses that ask me to, but anywhere that says i don't have to wear a mask I am leaving it off.

FWIW, I think I came off harsher than I meant to. I feel the same way as her - don't want to be the guinea pig, and for now feel a little more comfortable keeping it on. If all goes well, I imagine that I'd be good with ditching the masks in a month or so.I only ask because my wife said the same thing. She said she’ll probably continue to wear one for a little while. I don't know how much this changes things for me. My daughter will continue to wear a mask, and has never had an issue doing so. We have yet to dine at a restaurant since last March, and intend to do so in July while on vacation - but it'll be outdoor dining.Source of the post Question for you folks with kids under 12: how do you feel about the new mask guidance? Yes, they are on board with the new CDC guidelines. No mask if fully inoculated but businesses can still require them.I know the CDC guidance that just came out.. but did PA officially change any mask requirements yet?

The evidence is showing those that are vaxxed are not transmitting the virus very well. I'm not concerned with myself going out without a mask. He, however, will continue to wear his and he still won't go inside a restaurant yet.Yeah Giant Eagle is the only major chain that’s come out and said stick with masks for now, as far as I know. Transmission via surface contact is even lower probability. Unless you hard sniff all your food...Honestly I think any food seller should require masks, especially with stuff out in the open like fruit, vegetables, etc.
I dont want sickos breathing on my produce.

I said a few months ago that I hope masking continues during cold/flu season. It just seems polite. But I don't think it will happen.Transmission via surface contact is even lower probability. I'll concede that if I myself have symptoms or a close contact with someone who's had the flu, I'd wear a mask. I think that's a permanent change. But I'm not going to wear a mask for 4(+?) months a year every year for the rest of my life any time I'm in public. It's not sustainable

I may wear a mask if I'm sick and have to go to the store for whatever reason. There's hardly anybody in my office to begin with, so wearing one at work will be pointless

I’ll say that I don’t want it to happen, but how is it not sustainable? If it were to happen, it’d just be that new thing you have to do along with the other 1000 things.
