NBC was promoting yesterday that the playoffs would start Saturday. They have a built-in primetime window at 7:15 following the Preakness and if it’s Penguins-Islanders, I’m sure they’d love that matchup in that slot. Islanders last game is Monday so they’d have plenty of time off. What would complicate things is if Isles beat Boston in regulation, it would make Boston-Caps on Tuesday relevent for matchup purposes and should Boston fall to the 4, the league may be hesitant to roll them out there 4 days later. That’s speculation, of course. But I’d think the league wants to start these ASAP because of the Olympics (TV window) and the Pens are always a big draw.

So we’re just gonna have like twelve people in the building for round 1 or...?
What’s the deal with attendance? Are some teams going to have looser standards to pack the stands or is there like a league wide threshold you can’t exceed?

It's all subject to state and local guidelines. PPG is 4500 (I guess 25%?) until 5/31, at which point I assume full capacity if the governor lifts all restrictions as promised.
So we gotta win a round to get to that point it seems.

I'd like to take this opportunuity to say "suck it!" to every analyst that had the Pens out of the playoffs.
I never dreamed they'd win this division but I never had them out.
years from now you can all explain to your kids and grandkids what the "Mass Mutual Eastern Division" was and why it was needed when you show them the banner hanging in whatever arena proceeds PPG.

Laws, yes. That was the season Canada used a deadly virus as an excuse to ensure either the Maple Leafs or Connor McDavid made it to the Stanley Cup Semifinals.

Maybe this has already been mentioned but what is the NHL going to so when a Canadian team plays a US team?

According to an article I read in the Athletic last week (I think by Burnside), there’s a number of options being considered:
1. Try to get the Canadian government to approve the traveling party of the two teams to go back and forth over the border.
2. Give the Canadian team a US city to base in during the series (if playing Vegas, their home is Arizona or if playing Pittsburgh, they base in Columbus...arena availability TBA).
3. Have the 4 Canadian teams come to the US and play in non-playoff teams’ arenas for their series.

And NBC already announced Boston-Washington as the game in primetime after the Preakness on Saturday night. So I'd be willing to bet they put the Penguins on Sunday afternoon and that would be bad for my viewing schedule.
