I would have thrown him out of the game if I was an umpire and saw that.

He won’t get a close call from that umpire, but totally worth it.

Hate to say it, because I like Cutch on the Pirates, but he’s not been great these last few years. Off to a slow start as well in Philly.

That base path rule is ruining whatever is left to ruin in baseball

I'm not sure what I'm obsessed with more at the moment.... bad umping vids from MLB or antimasker freakout vids. I'm getting bored with the latter, so the former is a higher priority at the moment.

The only MLB highlights I've watched this year have been Jomboy clips. I'm okay with that.

Just have every play reviewed and we can have 6 hour games.

I'm trying to think what the Trout comparison would be to any other player in sports. An alltime great player on a team that refuses to make the playoffs

nothing comes to mind. I think all the players as good as Trout is in baseball have had at least some amount of postseason success

Pens and 66 until 1989 (or whenever they first made the playoffs with him).

he joined the Pens when he was 19 and you're right that it wasn't until '89 that he first made the playoffs but he was still only 23 then. Trout is 29 now, his baseball career being about half over and he has 3 postseason games, all losses, that were 7 years ago

it's depressing that his career is being wasted with the Angels. I don't even get it. On paper they look like a really good team this season but still have a losing record

I know it'll upset the mikeys of the world but unless he has a late career push for championships, his career will be marred significantly but a lack of any postseason success (hell, a lack of regular season success). He'll be a HoFer, obviously, but he won't be talked about in the Ruth, Mays, Mantle, Clemente, etc. conversation.

No it won't. Baseball isn't like that at all

Regarding Trout's legacy, if he continues the pace he's on with the normal decline for age he most definitely will be talked about in the same way Ruth, Mays. Ted Williams, Griffey Jr, Tony Gwynn, even Ty Cobb never won a championship, and they're considered some of the greatest to play.

I had to google how many some of the all time greats won. No one talks about that because no one cares. It's why WAR is tough to stack up - one person can only do so much on a baseball team and anyone with a brain understands it

Of the 4 major sports, I'd imagine baseball would be at the top of individual excellence doesn't translate to team excellence rating. Basketball, obviously, being the bottom.

I’m not saying he has to win a championship. He can’t even make the playoffs. He is irrelevant to the game of baseball outside of statistics

Half of the lore behind baseball is the story behind the player. Trout has no story other than “really good player on a really bad team”

Yeah probably like:
Baseball
Football (this one is tough because I think it's position dependent to an extent)
Hockey
Hoops

We'll see when his career is over (he's only 29), but he'll likely go down as one of the greats if not the greatest of this generation.

Trouts story is already "one of the best of all time" and he's only 29 I think. It's a shame he isn't on a better team for his and baseballs sake, but I don't think anyone associates the Angels being bad with his "lore."

we’ll have to agree to disagree here. Personally I think that if Trout never makes the postseason again he’ll be remembered more as a novelty than an alltime great player
