You could watch worse movies. It's not the worst way to spend 100 minutes or so (not counting credits), I just didn't find it that entertaining even with low expectations.

Right. When I said it was on par with the original, it wasn’t exactly a compliment.

Finally watched Sicario 2: Day of the Soldado
Enjoyed it.
Nice to watch Dora the Explorer in a violent action flick.

Stowaway was pretty good. It rewrote physics a bit, but entertaining for a sub-2 hour movie. Probably could’ve used some more character development.

Good to know, as that’s on my list for next weekend.

Is this the sequel to Castaway?

Yes. It’s about a FedEx package that was somehow routed off-planet, and has to be tracked down for delivery.

FedEx? I can almost believe it

Watched the first 2/3 of Class of 1984 last night. Not sure how I've never seen this before. Was watching in bed on my phone and it was The Last Drive In version so the running time is 2.5 hours and I wasn't able to finish before I fell asleep.

Decided to put this in here instead of TIL, but I just learned the Hamilton's house from Fast Times At Ridgemont High is in my neighborhood.

Without Remorse was good. The action scenes were pretty good, writing was a bit stilted, but enjoyable overall.
Looking at the reviews on IMdB, it seems people are upset that it's not an exact 1:1 production of the book. I read the book 30 years ago, and it was fine, but obviously wouldn't fit into what they are doing with Jack Ryan and John Clark. I mean Vietnam war era drug mules and Cold War conflict? Nah, that's not going to play. They've updated it nicely.
Oh, and Jim Greer's niece is a Navy SEAL that wears an incorrect uniform. That's two strikes against the film from the nerd crowd.
Greer is mentioned, so I hope Wendell Pierce and hopefully John Krasinski show up in one of these films - Rainbow Six is already in production.

That's another one that I have queued up. Maybe I should just send you my list so that you can pre-watch them for me so that I don't waste my time.

We haven't watched Without Remorse yet (I do want to watch it; I sorta know the actor who plays Dallas in the movie) but from the trailer(s) it seems like they've veered quite a long way off from the basic plot of the book. I don't necessarily think they needed to remain faithful to the vagrant drug mule girlfriend plotline, but bad guys actively assassinating Tier 1 operators and their families is quite a different angle. Also, the decompression chamber torture scene gave me nightmares when I read the book, but it seems like that has been replaced with the I'm-going-to-crash-cars-into-your-car-and-set-everything-on-fire-and-then-get-in-the-car-with-you-like-a-crazy-person-and-ask-you-some-questions scene.
It will also be interesting to see how they treat the Kelly/Clark and Jack Ryan relationship. In the book, Ryan's dad is the Baltimore police detective investigating the crime spree Kelly/Clark is perpetrating, and Jack is a young child. It seems that in this new Amazon timeline, Kelly/Clark and Jack Ryan are contemporaries in age.

Yeah, they are most definitely contemporaries. One of the main characters says "Jim Greer is a helluva an agent" to his niece, so it appears that they exist in the same universe.
I think you'll appreciate how and why the baddies are targeting Tier 1 operators by the time the movie concludes. I think Clancy himself would like it as well.
Oh, and there is a mid-credits scene.

I'm guessing this is Calvin Ellis? That's awesome. It's a shame that Michael B Jordan has denied the rumors, though. He'd be great.

I watched Bliss (Amazon Prime) with Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek. Interesting premise, but goes off the rails in the final third of the film.
- I have real issues with Owen Wilson acting a serious part because of how many thousands of times I sat through the movie Cars. I hear any straight dialogue from him as being from Lightning McQueen. Probably not a problem for most people lol.
-Salma Hayek, at 55, can still get it.
-I want to move to Croatia.

Owen Wilson is terrible, so, yeah, I have the same problem when watching him. Except for the Cars part, I just hear "I'm terrible" when he's speaking.

You're not the only one. Seemed like all 3 movies were on a constant loop, let alone the soundtracks from all 3. Pretty much 2015-2018 was all Cars, all the time.Source of the post being from Lightning McQueen. Probably not a problem for most people lol.
Funny coincidence - the last time they may have been excited about Cars is when we went to Disney/California Adventure. Yep, the reality of the movie must have struck a cord.
Although the other week I heard my 5 year old say that my 1 year old has Mater teeth.

I actually saw Cars 2 in the theater. So bizarre, the spy subplot. My kids liked it though. I never saw the third one, fortunately.
