Rodriguez is the Multiplicity "copy of a copy" version of Dupuis.

I always thought his tongue seemed to be clean shaven. I wonder if Dupuis’ wife touched his pepe

Erod is the better choice over AA at this point. He stinks but he's fine as a 4th line winger. AA is not really an NHLer to me, at least not yet

Zohorna is probably better than both of them. AA I'm not sure if he's an NHLer. Crotch, I have seen enough to be more confident that he's not. I'm all set on never seeing Eric Boguniecki's regen again...

lol the thought I had was if you put Dupuis in google translate and then translate him back to english you'd end up with Rodrigues

I'd be fine with Rodrigues or Zohorna on the fourth line. If we are lucky enough that we have to debate about ERod, Big Z or AA we're in a good spot with injuries

Dupuis and Rodrigues are not similar players...if there's some undercurrent of that being referenced here...

early-era dupuis was a guy who skated around doing a bunch of nothing, and generally stayed out of the way. culminating with the nacho line experience in the '09 finals. i think there's a similarity there. but the copy-of-copy joke is that rodriguez is still worse than that by about 30%.

my scouting report for Dupuis:

fast, high energy, high hockey IQ. Great forechecker, can play on PK. Not skilled enough offensively to run a line but can complement skilled linemates.

imo ERod is the same thing but worse. Albeit Dupuis was a little bigger adn could throw his body around more

I see why the comparison was made...if it even was made. Dupuis had an above average hockey IQ. ERods is well below average. And his speed is largely wasted because of it. He’s like a dog chasing cars. He’s flying around out there because he can, but he doesn’t know what to do, when to do it, or why he is doing it.

I just checked and Erod has played 234 NHl games. How is he not an NHL'er?

Yeah, Rodrigues is not close to Dupuis in terms of hockey IQ. Let's not forget that Dupuis was doing Crosby's defensive center work earlier in his career. Crotch can't do that.

As for n!'s typical leading question schtick. He played in how many actual NHL lineups? 200 games on a last place team because his buddy played there. And then he got time with us when we had 8 fourth liners in the lineup. He wasn't a reliable scorer in college, he wasn't a very productive player in the AHL, and then one day Buffalo was out of ideas...

Rod Pelley played 200+ games in the league too...he wasn't an NHLer...

Hell, Kent Manderville played a zillion games and wasn't NHL caliber in any of them...

But if you're really watching Crotch, and you watch the game through his eyes, and watch the angles he takes to things, and what he jumps to, and how he handles the puck, just the angle and body posture of how he catches passes, how he "protects" the puck, how he handles contact, his spatial awareness, the overall technical skills...if you're watching all that package and going, "yeah, that's an NHL player" well, that's fine, that's on you. That's a minor league player. Just a dead ringer for a decent minor league player. Not even a Quad-A guy that's too good for the minors. He's a legit AHLer.

If there's some weird cognitive dissonance thing going on where you're going, "He's in the NHL, how can he not be an NHLer?" like all the loose butthooles that say, "He doesn't suck, he's in the NHL" after you say a player sucks, then fine, have a nice weekend. But playing in the NHL, doesn't mean you're an NHL caliber player - see: Generation X. Just because you produce at a top line rate for a period of time, doesn't mean you're a top line player. There's a lot of nuance to the game...

How dare you denigrate Kent Manderville’s NHL level face off skills.

high iq * “a worse player” = low hockey iq

shmenguin and I intentionally crafted our comparison in a way where we can’t be wrong
