That may be the only thing that kills hostas, though.

Even with that deer spray we couldn't keep the front yard ones alive. But we didn't apply it often enough so that's on us.

Our backyard was fenced in and my dog did fantastic work keeping the deer on their side. When she passed away the deer got brave a few weeks later, jumped the fence, and ate the ones in the backyard too. :(

Hostas do not survive the roving packs of deer that permeate the North Hills. ;)
Yeah.. Deer are a problem. Where we lived prior to this new house I had to spray some awful smelling stuff on them to keep Deer away or they would be gone in a few days. No deer in these parts yet.....

This reminds me of the days where I had groundhog problems. First time I ever thought about buying a gun.

We've been in our house for 6 years now. The first 5 years, there would be 3-4 deer roaming around the neighborhood. This year, we counted 13! deer in our yard at once. I don't know if they merged families or one of the deer's name is Wilt Chamberlain, but there are going to be some hangry deer in our parts this year.

I read an article once describing how our ancestors (and recent ancestors at that) would think that we're all nuts with the perpetual war on dandelions because every part of the plant is edible, and it has been consumed by humans since prehistorical times. It's also one of the first plants that sprout in the spring, which made it a welcome fresh vegetable for people who would have been eating preserved food all winter. It's really only been with modern food preservation and distribution that the dandelion came to be seen as more of a weed than a meal.

I love the heterogeneity of my yard. Grass, dandelions, other weeds, mossy areas. Something a little different everywhere.

If you're in SWPA, looking like tomorrow is a good day to get the garden in.

If you're mowing grass that is too short to tell if you're cutting it, you're probably my dadhole neighbor.

Will probably put in some corn this weekend. Everything else I started indoors. Have about 30 plants going under a grow light in the garage. Already tilled in some mushroom compost after spending 4 consecutive weekends weeding the garden. Let's gooooooo!

Tomorrow is looking like a good day to pressure wash the patio and garage floor.
