We are quickly becoming acutely aware of what a significant role Lily played in our grieving process following Carlin's passing.

Does anyone have a dog with anxiety issues? If so, how are you treating it/dealing with it?
My Aussie has always been pretty high strung/nervous but since minor thunderstorms a couple days ago, he's been a wreck. Now every time the wind blows he starts shaking, pacing, and slobbering. I can't get him in to see a vet until next Friday.

Our Aussie has anxiety issues on occasion. We’ve tried that thunder shirt and it makes some difference, but it’s not a cure. We’ve really latched on to that saying “a tired dog is a happy dog” on days where we know it’s going to storm. We try to give her extra attention to tire her out.

When we brought Tammy (the cat: Tamcat!) home, Lily went through about a period of freaking out every time she saw the critter. She'd just start spasming and shaking. We used a Thundershirt on her, and one of those calming hormone collars. After about a month it just...... stopped. (They then quickly became buddies and would sleep snuggled up with each other all the time.) But I honestly don't know if the homeopathic stuff worked, or if Lily just found her way out of it.
They also sell 'calming treats' at most pet stores. You might want to give those a try, but check the ingredient list first.

Our soon to be 10 year old doodle has been even more of a puppy than usual since we've got here.

I can't wait for the tile work downstairs to be over with. All three of our cats are living in our master bedroom right now, and they have been choosing to play 'attack anything and everything' at 2am every night because they're bored and wound up. I had to gather cat toys at 3am in order to get back to sleep.

@meow: Not my usual spot, but PetSmart had a large selection of rainbows, so we picked up a few Madagascars, some Boesemanis, and some really young turquoise rainbows that I’m honestly not sure are turquoise’s. We’ll see. Our other LFS had clown plecos again, so I grabbed another one. All are now in QT with copper for the next 3 weeks. Wish us luck.

Nice. Try to get a picture of the turquoise. I think they are mislabeled a lot, so you might be on to something. Our one LFS dumps all their rainbows in one tank, which I think is a bad idea for this reason.
We hit up two LFSs today and came home with only some cherry shrimp.
I think my apisto is developing an eye infection. His one eye is a little swollen. Might have to pull him and medicate.

Our doodle had a large skin tag/lump removed from the top of her paw today...it wasn't really affecting her outside of her constantly wanting to chew it.
She gets to be in an E-collar for 10-14 days. We went through this two years ago and God, that was an awful time. She gets used to the collar but its more just feeling bad for her banging off the walls of the house, etc. I try and remove it as much as possible when we are with her.

Mine cracked his pointer claw on both front paws this weekend running back and forth along the fence-line at my in-laws (they have a trio of dogs behind them).
That'll teach me & I'll have to shorten them up more, but I didn't think they were any worse than I usually kept my old collie's. Turns out he's a bit more of a sprinter on his toes.

Carlin got one of her nails caught in another dog's collar at playcare once. Pulled it almost completely off her paw, and rotated it 90°. Eek.

My aunt’s lab is permanently missing a toenail. He was running to jump off their deck and his nail caught between two boards. Yanked it right out. Never grew back

I'll grab one a little later when we turn the light on, but I doubt it will be clear, as they're in my QT. We've actually had a few fish not make it through QT - one madagascar rainbow, some tiny thing that my wife wanted (we actually just can't find it...), and one of the dwarf gourami, which I've always considered sensitive. Grabbed another gourami last night to keep them in pairs, so we'll see how it goes.some really young turquoise rainbows that I’m honestly not sure are turquoise’s.@NTP66Nice. @meow - Here's an album of shots from QT:
In the first photo, the two rainbows on the right are the ones in question; the Boesemani's are on the left. I've never bought turquoise rainbows this young, and searching for pictures of them, there's a wide range. Could be, could not be. I think only time will tell.
