His entire career, Spielberg has wanted to make a musical. The dance competition in 1941!, and the opening to Temple Of Doom are the closest he's ever really gotten to doing that. I'm not entirely sure WSS is in need of a remake, but if there's one director I feel safe entrusting it to, it's Spielberg. And I'm also glad that they can do it now, while at least Sondheim is still around, and Rita Moreno can get a new part.Do we need a West Side Story remake? The music is among the best ever for Broadway. The original film is perfect. I mean, it's even set in the 50s like the original. It will be good, I'm sure, but unnecessary.
Also, I'm stoked to see Ari DeBose as Anita.
