My local booze store just started stocking Pritchard's Rum. Very excited to try it, as it's made from blackstrap molasses in a style that was common back in the Revolutionary period when the U.S./colonies were the leading rum producers in the world. Looking forward to tipping a glass of this stuff.

Got a nice cucumber gin from a local distillery down in Beaufort, NC on vacation. The little hint of cucumber on top of a g&t is a really nice change up.

Bourbon selection in Florida is excellent. Went to two hole in the wall stores and both had lots of good options. Got Buffalo Trace at one, because can never find it around here. Was going to go back and get Eagle Rare, but didn’t get the chance. Then stopped at another one and picked up Michters, which I’ve heard is good and not around here.

Is there caffeine in that? I've never seen the appeal of caffeinated alcoholic beverages. I'm not looking for the combination of hung over and wide awake.

Now that we are in the peak of summer heat, it's really gin and tonic season for me. I try and stick to diet tonic just because you can have more without the obscene amount of sugar, but man they go down well on a hot day.

Headed to Outer Banks in 18 days; I bring my 16 ounce Yeti thermos with me and bring G&Ts down to the beach. Bliss.

it doesn't mention caffeine but they say there's "coffee flavor" and Arabica beans in it so I would think there has to be some caffeine in there. not a concern for me, I don't drink to get drunk. a nice buzz is as far as I go.

I love myself a dirty as hell martini on these hot ass days. Is there a gin preference (in general, not just for martinis) for the discussion participants? I’m partial to Barr Hill, but Gordon’s or Hendrick’s do just fine.

I've never had (or even recall seeing) Barr Hill. I'll be on the lookout for it. I like Bombay Sapphire, Bombay Sapphire East, and Bluecoat as more common gins, and Junipero as a more premium gin. I have a bottle of Bluecoat Elderflower that I've yet to open.

Yup. Keep it simple. I tried a lime flavored gin once and hated it.

Michter's didn't wow me at all for it's price range. Same with Calumet. Loved Old Elk and Bluebird Rye is a staple but the best in the $50 range might be Henry McKenna 12yr. Also I've had 3 versions of Dad's Hat and love them all

Resurgent was decent and so was Few and Clyde Mays but not likely going back. Single barrel 4 Roses is legit at $41 bucks. Something called something like Saranac Bourbon in a tall 6 sided bottle sucks. Basil Hayden Rye was smooth at lulz 80 proof but pretty tasteless. Longbranch is a good deal at $39. With scotch prices on the rise I had to branch out. Thank goodness for the modern rye and crafting explosion.

Being a fan of sparkling wine, I came across one from Bordeaux which has caused many trips back to stock up. This stuff is delicious and apparently pretty new to the states. Seek it out in the chairman selection aisles

Edward, if you like bubbly, there's a lot of great value for money in Cava from Penedes (Catalonia).
