Nutting was at the game. The AP has a picture of him talking with Jeff Banister in the dugout. Banister has been travelling and scouting, so that he was in the dugout in uniform was interesting.

I would gladly take Banister as Hurdle's replacement.

If they don't clean house, I don't care and think next season is bad. They need a regime change top to bottom to get this stink off.

Lol. Those tickets were probably up on Stubhub for $6.
Spoilered because it's explicit. Will Graves posted the detailed police report. As a veteran Law & Order viewer, I can't imagine he was lawyered up when this conversation with police took place.

Pirates beat writers vote on annual awards for the team, and this year's Steve Blass "Best Pitcher" award did not have a winner after the voters decided not to give the award this year.
i.e. Vazquez won it.

MLB.com updated their prospect rankings. Keller fell from 19 to 27, Hayes jumped from 46 to 37, and Cruz jumped from 96 to 58. Suckass Swaggerty dropped from 87 to out of the rankings. For team specific, the top ten is Keller, Hayes, Cruz, Swaggerty, Mitchell, Priester, Siani, Bae, Kramer, and Craig.
Bae was the big mover, jumping from 16 to 8 on the strength of a 323/403/430/833 season. Kramer and Craig being ranked in the top ten, and Craig moving up from 15 despite a bad season, is probably indicative of the sorry state of the farm system.
The other big mover was Cody Bolton, jumping from 27 to 13, and Mason Martin made his top 30 debut at 19.

Kramer and Craig have no ceiling and their floors aren't high enough to merit prospect consideration IMO.MLB.com updated their prospect rankings. Agreed on Kramer and Craig. Thomas came in at 18 on their prospect list, which to me seems way too low. Pretty much agree with you top ten as well, though I would probably make room for Priester somewhere and probably move Mitchell behind Martin. I also think Cruz ends up in RF before 2020 is over.

Oh yeah, forgot about Priester. He would slot behind Thomas, which would bump Escobar, and I'm very comfortable bumping him. I think he's in a tier below those guys, who are interchangeable (Oliva, Castro, Sanchez, Brubaker, Ashcraft, Burrows).

A case could probably be made for someone like Siani to be in the top ten over Mitchell based on pure potential projection. Mitchell does have power but doesn't seem to have much else.Agreed on all. I don't understand the mechanics, but offense in the FSL is extremely depressed.

Just looking at the guys that were able to produce double digit home runs this year. They were all striking out more and hitting for lower average than Mitchell. I think he's a legit corner OF bat with power and at his age, is primed to take large steps forward.

Defensively he seems to be limited to RF and if Cruz ends up getting moved to RF I think he immediately becomes a better RF prospect than Mitchell, both defensively and at the plate, but I guess that's not necessarily a knock against Mitchell.
As far as the FSL and run production, analytics seem to put it squarely on environmental and park factors.

https://tht.fangraphs.com/minor-league- ... ironments/These are substantial differences. For example, both the Florida State League and the California League are high Single-A leagues, and thus (probably) have roughly equivalent talent levels. What these data are saying, therefore, is that you could take an average hitter from the Florida State league (hitting .256/.324/.374) and move him to the California League, where he’d “improve” to .271/.339/.418. The reason? Nothing to do with the player himself. Rather, it’s probably some combination of environmental factors (humidity, altitude) and ballparks. Nevertheless, it means that you have to be very careful about how you interpret a player’s statistics coming from these lines.
https://www.milb.com/florida-state/news ... c-66911570Generally speaking, the Florida State League is the place to pitch. No affiliated league has seen fewer runs per game (4.2) over the past six seasons and no full-season league has a lower home run rate (1.5 percent), slugging percentage (.372) or OPS (.698).
While teams like Daytona, St. Lucie and Bradenton play in some of the league's more hitter-friendly parks, facilities like Brevard County, Fort Myers and Jupiter/Palm Beach are much more reflective of the overall low-run environment.

Lost in all of this terrible season is that these are the last few games that Steve Blass will be working for the Pirates. 60 years, quite a run.

The end to the season is an absolutely terrible tribute to him and the contribution he made to this franchise. Yesterday was also "Roberto Clemente Day" at the ballpark. They shouldn't be allowed to commemorate their luminaries until an ownership that gives a **** about attempting to win takes control.Lost in all of this terrible season is that these are the last few games that Steve Blass will be working for the Pirates. 60 years, quite a run.
