Yeah. Definitely turn off notifications. It's also a good idea to let your friends know not to text about the game. More than once I got a "WOOOOO!" text letting me know a goal was going to be scored in about 30 seconds. You'll also need to adjust your twittering/FAFing habits if you usually check those out during the game.

it's not that I don't want it spoiled, it's the principle of the thing. If an event claims to be live, be live.

if hockey streams can give me nearly non-existent delay, why can't the actual NHL stream?

Hockey Streams was better because it didn't have to operate under those pesky licensing agreements and content restrictions that legitimate corporations operate under.

This is probably more of a DirecTV rant than CenterIce/GameCenter, but...........

Was watching the Isles-Panthers game, went to the kitchen to clean up after dinner (taco night!) and while I was in there the Isles scored in OT to win. In the meantime, coverage switched to the Ducks game, which is a local broadcast. When I got back to the couch a couple minutes later, I picked up the remote to rewind and watch the Isles OT goal. At that exact moment, the blackout on the channel kicked in........... and locked all DVR functionality. I couldn't go back and watch anything that happened prior to the channel going dark. Boo.

Bummer. That's an oddly specific but frustrating instance to deal with. Lately I've been forgetting that Wild games are on FSN here and it takes longer for the DVR to search for the new channel (when I tune to NBCSN) than for me to just manually change to it. First World Problems, n'at.

another 1st World problem: I have a Budweiser Red Light and Directv. last night the feed from USA (I just got back from vacation so wasn't home for games 1 and 2) was a full 5 seconds behind the light. the only good thing about that was if the light went off I knew to pay attention because a goal was about to be scored. usually I have to wait for the light to go off after a goal is scored.

That sounds awesome, but then in my house it would be a spoiler lantern since I timeshift everything.

I have that happen a lot during the regular season. for 7:00 games I usually get home around 7:30 after hitting the gym after work. it usually takes me until sometime in the 3rd to catch up to the live feed so the light will be going off and I'll know there's a goal at some point. unfortunately/fortunately for me I'll be in a walking boot for the next 4 weeks so the gym is likely out for awhile. :(

Ah, bummer. I have a co-worker that had his ankle rebuilt recently. Spent a month with a little scooter/cart and then a few more with a walking boot. Hope you can get back to it soon.

Since I've forgotten EVERYTHING in this thread and Center Ice renewal time is imminent can someone tell me real quick:

Any reason why I shouldn't switch to NHL.tv over Center Ice? I'm out of market and have NBCSN on my DirecTV. I'm just thinking of watching the games on my PS4 instead of DirecTV. Also, when I travel, presumably I can use NHL.tv whereas I can't access my Center Ice DVR stuff on the road.

My only real requirement is that I need to be able to start games like an hour late and catch up by FFWDing through commercials. I assume NHL.tv has that? I think someone (columbia?) confirmed this feature but it's my main concern so I want to ask again.

Thanks.

This is the biggest advantage. You can start games on delay, set to hide score, etc. I prefer it the Center Ice because it doesn't have to rely on my network, but NHL.tv is great for watching on the go.

If Centre Ice is like MLB Extra Innings this year where it included the mlb.tv in the TV price, then you might not have to decide.

NHL.tv has started adding "popular clips" from NHL.com during the commercial breaks instead of the "Commercial break in progress" screen. Seems likes a good idea, but they only rotate around 5 different clips. So after a couple commercial breaks, I'd rather just have the old commercial screen back.

Yeah, it's been that Malkin goal vs. Minnesota about 10 times in a row for me...cool idea, but fails so hard. The NFL has the same mic'd up combo for Cam Newton every time too...

It should just switch over to another out of market game, overlay "Live Look-in" in the corner, and call it a day.
