nothing wrong with brown rice. it's just like delicious white rice mixed with soggy gas station bathroom paper shredded in

Sounds great. I will definitely try to get some. That's the thing I love about really good brown rice: toast it for a couple of minutes and the nutty aroma starts to fill the room.I personally prefer red cargo rice to brown rice. I get it at Oriental Market on McKnightmare road. Comes from Thailand, I think. Very nice nutty flavor.

I generally keep supplies of three types of rice: (1) the red cargo rice; (2) basmati rice, and (3) a short-grain Japonica rice. For the short-grain, I like the Tamanishiki brand. It's a US-grown hybrid of Koshihikari rice and Yumegokochi rice. I once read an article about what brands of rice that Japanese people in the US buy for themselves, and I think Tamanishiki was at the top of the list.

I mean...there are varieties of white rice other than boil-a-bag. Jasmine. Arborio. Different textures and flavors.
Brown rice is...not good. To me it's a worse texture and flavor than boil-a-bag white rice. It's at least edible when it's with wild rice.
Wheat bread is awesome, but honestly all bread is awesome. Wheat hamburger buns are very good, but wheat hotdog buns can GTFO.

Do you have a preferred brand for your red cargo rice? I'm very interested and have been looking...I generally keep supplies of three types of rice: (1) the red cargo rice; (2) basmati rice, and (3) a short-grain Japonica rice. I think Oriental Market carries this brand. I know it comes in a vacuum-sealed bag like this:

A decent Japanese market should have rice available in bulk, like 10- to 15-lb bags. Maybe larger.I generally keep supplies of three types of rice: (1) the red cargo rice; (2) basmati rice, and (3) a short-grain Japonica rice. For the short-grain, I like the Tamanishiki brand. Yeah, Tamanishiki comes in 15 lb. bags. I decant the rice into sealable storage containers when I open a new one.

Although I disagree, I can understand the aversion to brown rice. I have a similar aversion to certain preparations of barley. Pearled barley is wonderful. A necessary addition to any vegetable soup. But regular barley? I haven't yet gotten into it. I don't really like it. Too chewy, slippery. I feel the same way about wild rice. But I'll keep trying.
I did a brief (very brief) search for an NFL player named "Barley" and all I got was Saquon Barkley misspelled as Saquon Barley. Haha. They got Saquon right but not Barkley. Too funny.
