Yes, this was a known thing and that's why teams didn't bite. He was offered around and no one was willing to do it because of the potential fall out from this...whatever it is...scandal (?)...
Alex Formenton was headed to RFA status, he remains there...they weren't gonna sign him because no one knew what was gonna happen.

Considering that Utah uses the beehive as a symbol, I think the Salt Lake City Bees would be the best name, although there is already a minor-league baseball team in town with that name. That team, however, is owned by one of the Jazz's minority owners (with the company that wants to buy the Yotes being the majority owner) and managed by the same company that owns the Jazz, so I bet a deal could be done to switch names.

The NHL will continue to **** it up and probably name them the Salt Lake City Arizona Coyotes.

[BurnsAndGambo] It is believed that Meruelo and the league have a handshake deal for an expansion team and Coyotes name if they win the land auction in North Phoenix.
Um... I don't like seeing cities lose their teams, but if the Coyotes go to Sal Tlay Ka Siti, maybe it's time to admit that hockey in Arizona failed. I will mourn the loss of the kachina logo and jerseys.

It failed because they did it wrong, not because it can't succeed.[BurnsAndGambo] It is believed that Meruelo and the league have a handshake deal for an expansion team and Coyotes name if they win the land auction in North Phoenix.

Hockey is booming in Las Vegas...also in the middle of the desert...
It's not just about location, you need to actually want to make it work and not try to shortcut around better ideas to save yourself a few hundred thousand dollars here and there...that team got kicked around, it played second fiddle to the Suns in a basketball arena, it ended up way out of town, blah blah blah...little in the way of grassroots or investment...

I’m not talking about the location. Handing the keys back to the guy who failed is a very dumb thing to do.

I’m of the opinion that 66 should also be a retired number in the league.
