A bunch of my neighbors work from home, so we're all gonna go hang out during the event.

I find it kind of funny to look at a satellite image of the cloud cover right next to a path of totality for the eclipse.
Looks like Cleveland area, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine are the only ones that will be able to see it.

The day started off sunny, but now there are clouds in the way that don't look like they're moving
Weather Thread
We only have 20% coverage here, but it's also 100% overcast. So it's as dark as an eclipse as usual, but all day.

The woman narrating totality in Dallas on the NASA broadcast sounded like she REALLY enjoyed the moment of totality.

Forecast was for intermittent clouds so naturally it went to 100% cloud cover a half hour ago. I hate this state

Currently on the side of a country road somewhere near Cortland Ohio. NWS said better chances of clear skies to the west, so that's where I headed. It's clear here. The sun is down to a slim crescent.

98.45% totality here, and it was amazing how much light there still was.

I don't know why I thought it was going to get darker than it did.

Ok, that was seriously cool. Like a bullseye in the sky. The peeper frogs in the wood across from me all started singing, and there must be rosters on a nearby farm, because they were crowing.

Yeah it was basically magic hour bright in Pittsburgh. Pretty cool. The clouds stayed away as well.

My friends in Cleveland had a good shot at it. And a C-130 did a low pass over their neighborhood which added to the fun.

All cloud cover here in State College. There was a 30 second window when the sun was about half covered that I saw it, but then everything clouded over and started raining. Boooooo...
My boss made a trip to his relatives in Ohio. Said it was clear skies and he got to see the whole thing. Said it was incredible.

99% coverage in Beaver, it was pretty cool. Cloudy but the glasses cut through the clouds pretty well.

It's fine you'll get another shot in 2045, though you'll have to travel south. If not, the next one with a similar path is 2099. See you then.Source of the post All cloud cover here in State College.
