Thanks for sharing. Sounds like your guys was a world beater, a blessed creature and a true friend.
Nothing replaces that captured feeling you get when you lock eyes with your dog. I am dreading that feeling of emptiness when my dog(s) pass. Going to go give them both love and feel the feels.
Experiencing the grief and emotions is enough to know that you both deserved each other and you did right by him.
I know for me it’s knowing that you’ll still have that love to give to a pup after you lose him/her, and be strong and willing to give the next one a blessed life.

Most of us have been there, meow. For someone that really loves their dog, I think it's just about the hardest thing you can go through. Take care of yourself.

thanks boys. read an article that 85% of adults taking losing a family pet worse than losing a parent. I lost by my parents before I was a teenager, so I don’t have a comparable, but I feel like that isn’t an unreasonable number.
our Aussie has also been a wreck. She’s a year younger than the GSP was so she’s only known living with him. she is definitely grieving.
Also, I highly recommend Laps of Love for in-home euthanasia. It was as seamless a process as could be and our vet was amazing. Pittsburgh has an office

Sorry buddy. My kids still randomly bring up our guy who we lost in April and somewhere along the way it shifted from making me sad to making me grateful that he left them lasting memories.

So sorry meow. We don't deserve them.
We lost our cat in March and have just started talking about getting a dog or another cat...or both. It was getting a bit easier, but Christmas has sucked without a little furry friend.

I’m taking the dog for a walk tonight. I am generally a man of low character but I will man up and deal with this miserable wet and salty situation for this dumb dog. She will have a blast though so that’s worth it

Anyone in the greater pittsburgh area looking to adopt an ~8yo neutered male indoor cat? Friends of ours had a death in the family and the cat is now orphaned. Unfortunately we can't take it in and they're having trouble finding a shelter with room to help. I've been asking everyone I know and thought perhaps someone on the board would be interested. Let me know?

Murphy went for his annual checkup today. Over $300 just for normal stuff and vaccines/rabies etc. We like out vet alot, but I swear it keeps going up every year.
They also recommended a deep teeth cleaning. They said he is at moderate right now and it's better to do it now then wait till it gets worse when he gets older. He won't let us brush his teeth, and we've tried chews and other things...with no luck. Price on that...$1300 on the low end if its just normal stuff up to $3100 if they have to pull anything. I guess they put him to sleep for the procedure.

Definitely worth doing it now for sure... That will only get worse
Molly went for her checkup last week... Clean bill of health, she turned 12 in October. The amount of energy she has at her age is something else, definitely treasuring these old dog years.
Both the vet and the tech said they would have thought she was six without knowing her history.

I bought some waterproof pet blankets to go on my bed and on my couch. Hershey has tested one by barfing on it (several times now), so I know they work. But I keep finding Hershey and Luna burrowed under the blankets. Today, for the first time, I found both cats burrowed under the pet blanket on my bed. I suppose I should be happy that they're getting along well enough to be under the same blanket at the same time, but dammit, I bought that thing specifically to protect the bed from you two.

He’s only 6 don’t want him to have mouth or teeth issues when he gets older.

we did a teeth cleaning with our GSP at around 10 years old. the before and after pictures were astonishing. we plan to do our aussie sometime this year. she's 13, but has really clean teeth. still seemed worth it to us.

One of my cat’s favorite things is tucking herself in under a blanket.

So just about 11 months after saying goodbye to our cat Sophie, we have a foster family bringing a puppy to the house on Monday for a kinda home inspection and meet and greet. If everything goes well, she'll be left with us on Monday.
Lot of mixed emotions. We were always dog people until we met Sophie, and unfortunately she wanted nothing to do with the canine community. lol. Adopting a dog was always on the list, and we're super excited that we've gotten to this point. Gonna be a completely different world for my wife and me, but we know what to expect and are bursting at the seems to welcome her into our home!
The mixed emotions part is...this will, in a way, officially 'close' that previous chapter of our lives. We've healed, and it's time. It's just...sad in a way that I wasn't expecting.
Anywho, wish us luck! We're gonna need it with a puppy!!!
