Being single and living by myself, I kinda have to know how to do laundry.
Even if those two conditions were different, I'd probably still be the laundry doer. As mentioned upthread, it's probably the easiest of chores even with the time involved for folding or hanging.

Yep, I do my own. I used to do my wifes too occassionally to surprise her, but she told me to never touch it again.

It's a touch of a time suck on my weekend to fold everyone's laundry, but yeah... it's not a "difficult" chore.

the thing that gets me with laundry...I wear tshirts (relatively higher quality) often but it seems like every one eventually becomes ruined by going through the dryer. It seems like there's an expectation that any and all shirts shouldn't be put in the dryer
but there's no way I'm air drying x number of tshirts. I don't even have a good sense of how to clean my button down shirts (obviously I'd dry clean the dress shirts but I'm talking about the casual shirts which are too nice to go through the laundry but not nice enough to be dry cleaned). **** can get very annoying fast

My clothes, no. My wife will use the steamer we have on a few things, but I don't think we've ironed in years.Does anyone iron still?

You either put the jeans/pants in the dryer or didn't put the undergarments in the special bag.Yep, I do my own. I used to do my wifes too occassionally to surprise her, but she told me to never touch it again.

This is me too. I can do it all but I don't because my wifes clothes require like 3 different types of washing and pre treating and drying. My stuff is simple. Normal wash, shirts, jeans, athletic pants get hung up to dry. Everything else goes in the dryer. My wife does the laundry but I know how to do it. That's just how our division of labor worked out, mainly because I can do man clothes laundry but don't have second-level women's clothes skills.
For what it's worth, my wife cooks less than 10 meals a year.

I also hang dry a whole lot of stuff. My laundry is in the furnace room so in the winter it dries pretty quickly.
And I still iron my dress shirts and pants and my golf pants.

ruined how? are they getting burn marks? if so, you need a service call. I turn all of my tshirts inside out before they go in the hamper.the thing that gets me with laundry...I wear tshirts (relatively higher quality) often but it seems like every one eventually becomes ruined by going through the dryer. My wife is the laundry queen by choice. We pretty evenly distribute most domestic chores. I do most of the cleaning, we split the cooking.

interesting. I've heard of this happening to other people but don't understand why. it doesn't happen to me at all. I've got a few t-shirts that will be celebrating their 20th "birthdays" next year and they basically look new other than a little fading in color.
