And this who Las Vegas expansion is even worse IMO.
I tend to agree. The last thing I want to do when I go to Las Vegas would be to go to a hockey game.

I'd rather bet on the game and watch it from a casino.

But the "corporate" support will be high...casinos will have multiple season tickets as giveaways, etc. And if you put an arena in close proximity to everything, I can see enough gate to make it somewhat palatable...but generally, it's tough because of the transient population there...

That said, what city is better at marketing something than Las vegas...?

I would be pleased if the Coyotes moved to Vegas.

The city voted tonight to cancel the lease. Can't see how the Yotes stay after this year. Is Seattle viable in 2016?

The vote allows them to take action (such as, evicting the Coyotes from their arena)...the vote, AIUI, does not actually represent anything super substantial...there's kicking ass and then there is taking names...right now, just names are being taken...ass kicking could potentially begin tomorrow...

Re: Seattle. I don't know if the league will move a team to spot where they have a substantial chance of being an expansion club. I think Key Arena is 18 months out (?) for NHL hockey still. Moving a team generates little cash. Expansion fee is being set at $500 million. So, if you move them to a place where you were gonna get $500 million, then well, you're not doing yourself any favors...

Funnier yet is that the Coyotes could move...to Phoenix. The Suns play in downtown Phoenix in the Talking Stick Resort Arena (formerly America West/U.S. Airways). The Coyotes themselves played there when they first moved from Winnipeg. Currently, the Coyotes play in the West Valley out in Glendale...that would really stick it to the City of Glendale...whether it's a good idea or not is another story...

I think Seattle would be a really great hockey market. Definitely a progressive sports population (they've embraced the Sounders and then some).

And of course with Seattle, you beat the NBA back to that market...

I still think Vegas gets a team before Seattle. Vegas has sold more than the 10k season ticket packages the NHL wanted, the building is going to be state of the art, and Luc Robitaille's part of the group that built the arena.
