At two different times in my life I've played beer league games with broken bones in my feet. Not exactly the smartest thing I've ever done, but at least it wasn't raining.

I am super happy for Vegas. The city has really taken to the club and hockey generally, and they intensely buy into the "Vegas Born" thing. My in-laws - who I'm not sure if they even knew hockey was played on ice before I showed up - have two cars, and both have VGK plates; my mother-in-law in particular wears Knights gear all the time and goes to fan events and stuff.

Talked about it before, but the Knights put on the absolute best fan experience of any in-person sporting event I've ever been to. And all this to win the Cup in six years, while the last Canadian champs remain the '93 Habs. lol

of course, football >>> hockey but I feel like there's a kinship that Vegasians (Veganas? Vegans?) have with the GKs that they don't really have with the Raiders. The Raiders are a nomadic franchise and have 50+ years of history elsewhere (and will hopefully never sniff a Super Bowl). The Golden Knights are the first ever "born in Vegas" franchise and managed to win a Cup already

it was cool being in Vegas the previous two weekends. I was never in a city while the city was in a league final before so it was the first time I got to see that at all and there were many, many people in GKs jerseys (as well as a lot of GK decor; like the roman statue on Las Vegas Boulevard outside of Caesar's donning a jersey)

It's always struck me as weird when non-rostered players suit all the way up to skate with the cup. Skates and a tracksuit with your jersey over top of it is fine, Mr. Try Hard. Phil hadn't played since Rd1.

Letang did this the year he only played half of the regular season games, probably where I picked up my annoyance with it.

teams have been doing that for YEARS. I saw at least 4 of the 5 goalies that VGK used this year.

Yeah, I get it, just airing a pet peeve. I always wonder if they suit up with like 5 minutes to go or what. Are they wearing a cup? Who knows...

last night they could've started mid 2nd....
I forget which Pens win it was but all the Black Aces came streaming out a side door and they all had prefect hair and were dry as a bone. I mean, I get it. it takes more than 20 guys to win The Cup. that's why coaches, front office and staff get to lift and drink from it too. if I were a player, even injured or scratched, I'd want to be in full gear for the large photo that I'm going to hang in my house. you never know when you'll get to touch it again, maybe never.

I stop watching/caring after 4-5 guys if it's not the Pens and 15 or so if it is the Pens. The only reason I know Phil lifted the Cup and was in jersey is because of this thread

That's a rare instance of all four of them contributing. Hill obviously won the game and Quick was available as a backup. Thompson led them in wins during the season, and Brossoit played 1/3 of the postseason games before an injury took him out.

But speaking of Vegas goalies, I don't recall seeing Lehner on the ice last night.

because he was never rostered on the 2022-2023 VGK team. he wasn't rostered on any team this past season:

There was a dateline or 20/20 about that reptile dude’s murder.

How fo you not know if your assets are $1 million or $10 million?

Oh yeah, I know he was LTIR'ed all year due to double hip surgery. One hip was late August and the other was... well, sometime after late August.

I'm not saying he had to suit up and skate around with the Cup like the black aces did. But I was kinda surprised that he wasn't around the team and that there wasn't much said about him.

Usually LTIR guys are not around the team and if he wasn’t roster, I don’t know how much he’s actually allowed around them

Well, it's probably like having a face tattoo...you're likely garbage that attracts other garbage and, well, attract/get shot...

considering the money troubles he has, if I'm Vegas, I'm keeping him away from any official team activities.

fair enough. I considered that but wasn't sure if that was officially a factor or not.

I enjoy the Frenzy and appreciate ESPN for trying it. The big downside is there are 32 games being covered and about 1/3rd of the coverage is...Bedard.

Off the top of my head, I can remember them breaking in to cover his pregame skate, and also spotlighting his career shot chart (that's just stuff from before the game started). Maybe you didn't watch the whole thing? I fell asleep around 11:30pm so maybe it calmed down once he left the ice, maybe.
