As we meander towards the mid-point of these Stanley Cup Playoffs, let's start the ball rolling on the early - very early, mind you - MVP candidates as adjudged by yours truly. Not a huge numbers guy, so a lot of it for me is my determination of positive impact for his team based on my viewings of these entire playoffs...please share your thoughts, whether in agreement or disagreement...the NHL games thread is for playoff game discussion though, this is strictly for the Conn Smythe Trophy...

Updated. Not much change. Kane joins the list as he almost singlehandedly beat the Wild...

is it weird that I'm rooting for Johnson because he was on my Dispersal Draft team?

What's with Keith being so high? Explain yourself immediately.

He's been about the best d-man in these playoffs. Transition game, defensively, time chewing, everything has been very good. He's also had to lug around guys like Michal Roszival and Kimmo Timonen for long stretches...he's the extra shift d-man on the only team in the Conference Finals.

I don't know. He's hasn't done much to jump out at me and force his way in there. He's been reliable, sure. He's been anchored with the Rosivals and Timonens of the world, yes. He just hasn't taken command of games. Maybe I need to watch a few more Hawks' games.

I'm surprised you don't have Perry on there. the points leader usually gets a ton of consideration.

He's on my radar, but I don't find him to be as impactful as the others quite yet. He's on the cusp though...

Did I see that Kane has 7 goals already this postseason? Johnson still in first for me but that taxi cab in the rear view mirror is getting closer.

It's amazing what a competent goalie can do with a little bit of insulation.

Plus a good goalie coach...and yes, Holtby is on my radar despite the loss on Friday night...will likely update the list after the lone game tonight...

Small change, as much as Ryan Kesler could still be there as he was terrific in game 5...Corey Perry nets another game-winner in the 3rd period or overtime and battled back from what looked to be a big problem to close out the series against a pesky Flames team...Perry joins the ranks for now with probably just two games left in the Division Finals...

Updated, but no change. Though I was tempted to slip Henrik Lundqvist into that spot...I don't want to have recency bias...if Hank puts the Rangers ahead in the series early, he'll likely get on the board quickly...the more I think about it, he should probably be there...but there's time. Just half way through now...

Johnson's to lose if Tampa wins.

Keith, Toews or Kane if Hawks win. - I'm giving edge to Toews right now.
