Why does it seem like none of the players go along these lines (re taking it out on Backstrom)? Go jump him. Inflict damage on their team. There isn't one dude on the rangers that can even hold a candle to Wilson (there really aren't many in the league in general).

Gotta wonder if they couldn't call someone up because of Covid protocol. Any other year maybe they bring up their Trevor Gillies.

Hathaway is Best Supporting Actor in the continual jag-off “me warrior” cosplay over there.

Seeing Hagelin in the box for an hour and a half made me sad. I actually really liked Hagelin as a Ranger. Loved him as a Pen. Can’t stand the sight of him corrupted by a Caps sweater.

Utilitarian point of view would be that I hope he breaks both legs in a way that he can never skate again.

He plays and people get CTE. You should be wishing him injured for as long as possible.

It's tough to be psychopath if you aren't one already...

If someone said to me, "Hey, there's mac's grandma, putting change in a parking meter...give her a good shove..." ...I don't think I can do that. And I know it's not the same thing, but it's not always easy to just inflict damage on someone...Backstrom is a star in this league, do you really have it in you to - in theory, potentially - end his HOF career short of its finish because of something he had really nothing to do with...?

And yeah, I get what Wilson did, does, and will continue to do...and who he did it to, now, and will continue to do it do, but he's a psychopath...it comes naturally to him...it's quite likely that Brendan Smith is not, he's just a guy trying to hang in the league...he might not want to get suspended for 40 games and never play in the NHL again to avenge some player that doesn't know his name...

It's like the thing you see in the political thread, but in reverse here. "If I was a cop and was getting tased with my own taser while his buddy is throwing angry pitbulls at me, I'd just take a deep breath, count to 10, and offer them a chance to gas up my wife...I'd never even think to grab for my gun..."

It's really easy - and I'm not saying this at you mac machine - to say, "yeah, just beat that dude's mom to death with the family dog" and it's really easy to say, "the only time you should reach for your gun is to surrender it to the perp" right up until it's time to instinctively do the opposite...

I get it. Truly. I want him drummed out of the league, generally speaking.

I think things like cup checks and just deciding that someone smaller than you will fight you are things that can be done with minimal apocalyptic risk.

But yeah...you gotta have that in your DNA. Not many guys in the league do anymore.

Strome with the cheap misconduct to end his night. If he was going to get the boot, at least he should have tried to kick Hathaway's ass.

Back in my day we had a dude taking runs at someone throughout the game. He broke lose at one point for a short breakaway, I caught up and my stick lift attempt “missed” and speared the dude in the dadhole. His reaction was extremely negative. More people should just do that.

Really too bad someone didn't shove Oshie's head thru the glass tonite.
