my love for Fleury isn’t ground in the fact that he was a perfect goalie. Quite the opposite actually. His flaws make him more endearing. The shitty 2012 playoff outing

Dude is super charismatic and charming. And is responsible for at least 2 of our Cups. As important as Sid, Geno and Tanger are to the franchise MAF has the most likeable personality.

I am still absolutely floored at any self respecting Pens fan can like Fleury. Just…straight up flabbergasted. I am speechless. I am without speech.

I want the Knights to lose because of all the stupid love Fleury still gets when he isn't the Pens goalie anymore. Good guy, nice smile..doesn't mean you still have to suck on his nuts several years after he left the team.

He's gone, he's been gone.. he got his standing ovation (deserved) when he came back the first time. Get over him being gone. It was the right decision to let him walk.

It bothers me irrationally and therefore I want the Knights to lose because of it.

I'm very serious. People still yearn for him and he's been gone for several years. His personality endeared him to people I get it. He was the goalie that brought this team out of the dark ages.. I get it, but he's not Patrick Roy. I don't get why people are so tethered to the guy when he plays for a different team.

Best goalie in franchise history. Was massive in the '08 run, a noteworthy plus in '09, and was the Smythe favorite through 2 and a half rounds in '17...

Yeah, there was some bad news bears in there: '10, '12, '13...but a Generation Xer made it and was a massive part of this team's success and he may actually be the nicest guy in NHL history, legitimately...I wish him nothing but the best with my team out of it...not that the obviously right move wasn't made, but my team would still be in it if we had him this year in an alternate universe, which is merely a footnote in all of this but it accentuates the pining a touch more...

Fleury does this cool thing where his glove hand actually extends above nipple level. It's an amazing feat to watch.

Yeah, ya know there’s this thing where guys like Mark Stone slide under the radar for shitty character. And then guys like Logan Couture and Oshie say meathead thoughtless things every 5 minutes and guys like Martin and Wilson get chuckles out of permanently hurting people’s brains.

Hockey has a character problem. From the top down. And Fleury is a big old anomaly where he just seems built differently.

Maybe, for me, he’s just an avatar for the concept of high character. And I don’t want to ignore that.

I'd happily wear a Fleury Knights jersey too. I have zero ill will toward him. He's responsible for 3 Cups and one could argue that if you take him off those 3 teams, the Penguins *maybe* win 1 Cup. Yeah, he had some absolute embarrassments in the playoffs where he had to be bailed out by the likes of Brent Johnson or Tomas Vokoun. But to me, the good outweighs the bad and it's not like he left Pittsburgh in a huff about a contract or playing time. His departure was totally out of his control. Yes, it was the right move economically to let him go and fans who continue to argue otherwise don't understand the economics of the game. I, for one, would love to see him get another Cup.

Comparing Sid and Fleury is silly. Sid IS the penguins like Mario was. Fleury is nowhere near that level IMO.
