HOF - yes or no?

Yeah, that's the answer to that...in the last 20 years, you basically have to be a center...

I know I brought this up previously, but let's say hypothetically Brindamour coaches a team or two to a Cup.

Would they factor his playing career into his coaching career as a total contribution to hockey for making a case for him to get in?
I can't think of an example of someone who had a fringe case as a player and then got pushed in........as a player...? Because of it...because you're combining two different wings. I don't know how you get there...no one immediately comes to mind...

I guess I'm just asking if theres a "player/coach" spot. Like a "Combined Contribution" spot.

I don't think we've had someone get in as a player then also get in as a coach or GM.

There is not.

Art Ross probably qualifies for your second line. He was very highly regarded as a defenseman from 1906 to 1916 or so...won a couple of all-star team nods, led the pro circuit in points among d-men, multiple Cups, etc.

And then, of course, his coaching...he made the net that we use...everything else...probably had two HOF careers...

Jack Adams probably qualifies too in the same regard...

Someone just passed me this note about players who had meh careers and then kind of good coaching careers and then got in as a player: http://hockeyhistorysis.blogspot.com/20 ... 1910s.html

So guys like George McNamara, Steamer Maxwell, etc. probably qualify, MR25...but it looks like it's been a while...

Well, the HHOF wasn't founded til 1945, so, you don't have a choice... ;)

For somebody who was highly regarded for his two-way game, he only finished top ten in the Selke 3x and his best finish was a distant 5th.
Winger
and I considered that, but I'm not totally sold. There were plenty of other wingers who finished above him during his career.

Factor in playing for Ottawa and Atlanta. Notice the vote totals go up as he enters markets that are actually watched on TV...

Hossa:
2017: 3rd winger
2016: N/A
2015: 2nd winger
2014: 1st winger
2013: 4th winger
2012: 5th winger
2011: N/A
2010: 4th winger
2009: 5th winger

Everything else is Atlanta/Ottawa. He had a 2001: 3rd winger finish, but that's about it. He's pretty prominent for a long stretch of time...

mikey will not be happy. Kevin Lowe and Doug Wilson both seemed to be a little taken aback:

"I think I perhaps represent the next level of guys who helped to win championships," Lowe said. "I appreciate that my contributions to the teams I played on are being recognized in this way."

"I'm not even a Hall of Famer in my own house, so joining this club means the world to me," said Wilson.

Lowe definitely doesn't belong at all.

Wilson didn't feel like a HOFer when I saw him, but I feel like I haven't seen him in a lot of games for some reason...

He had a strong peak in some weak years for the league and d-men as a whole (he got a Norris, Carlyle got a Norris)...he's probably in because of what he did in 1990 because that sort of justifies what he did in the early 80's...

Tom Barrasso should definitely be in.

- Highest scoring goaltender in NHL history (that's gotta be worth something)
- 11 consecutive playoff wins in one season, 14 consecutive overall
- Won all 16 games in the '92 playoffs at a time when only I think 2 or 3 other keepers had done that previously
- My personal take is he should've been the '92 Conn Smythe winner

Granted, the 1992 playoff run is doing a lot of heavy lifting on his resume. But if a small sample of playoff success is enough for Gerry Cheevers, it's enough for Tommy B.

- Nope. That's trivia.
- Trivia
- Circumstantial trivia
- He finished 2nd. But one instance of being a one-time second-place finisher for the Conn Smythe has no correlation to the HOF

Oh man, that was it...? That's not at all what this is based on haha

Effectively, your stance on Barrasso is akin to saying Lemieux should be in the HHOF and leading off with the five goals, five different ways game...kooky and cute, but of no real substance whatsoever...
