I also had completely forgotten the Blues made the Final in their first three seasons, got swept every time, and haven't made it back since.

I don’t root for him cause he’s such a swell guy.I’m still confused about the love that Pittsburgh gives Fleury. I mean, I understand why, but it is stupid.
IMO
It’s primarily because of what he went through the last couple years. And yeah he handled it classy, but even if he didn’t, that’s a complicated and difficult way to say goodbye to your hockey bros. He deserves good things for losing his spot to a possibly inferior goalie and then getting sent to Siberia right after.
Go, Fleury. Suck one, meow.
When I typed that post, I was 100% certain this response would followThose don’t count
He did. It was reported by various sportswriters last night. He told Engo Crosby touched the Prince of Wales Cup.$5 says Fleury told Engo to pick up the trophy.
Washington - definitelyWell, I’ll take Vegas over Tampa or Washington.
Yeah. I don’t arbitrarily wish ill will on other fan bases. But these are some misbehaving children in need of a few more decades of misery. Make it so, Vegas. At this point, I want Vegas to win it all just for the lols. Seeing how annoyed/salty/downright pissed off r/hockey is makes all of it so much more fun.
I don’t think he “deserves” such an exclusive achievement. But a certain team and their fans certainly “deserve” to feel like they’ll never win anything after tonight. Because there’s plenty of that to go around.I dislike using the word deserves but there aren't many better examples of saying Fleury deserves to backstop his team to a cup and win the Conn Smythe.
Well, he had plenty of chances and blew most of them.I dislike using the word deserves but there aren't many better examples of saying Fleury deserves to backstop his team to a cup and win the Conn Smythe.

Did he really have a choice? My thought process is more directed with him handing the team over to Murray, waiving his NMC, and accepting his transition to Vegas. That is an extremely rare case of a guy that is still a #1 handing the keys over when he had every right to stay.
His contract included a NMC which would have forced the Penguins to protect him and expose Murray. Legally speaking he had a choice.Did he really have a choice? My thought process is more directed with him handing the team over to Murray, waiving his NMC, and accepting his transition to Vegas. Giving up less goals in almost 3x as many games, even if it is the defenseless Flyers, is an INTERESTING nugget. Not super impressive
That's kind of an obscure reference, but I was hearkening back to the old Peter King KSK columnsWhere did you learn to capitalize words like that mid-sentence... :squint:
