Near and dear to anyone who picked the Canucks in the early days of the NHL video game series because they had Bure.

Cliff played most of his career in Vancouver, but apparently played for both the Coyotes as well as the Wild and the Predators (!!!!, what the hell). He played in 1137 games, potting 306 goals to go with 563 assists totaling 869 points. Cliff was a nice player and had a wonderful, long career, especially for a guy who was only 5'8".

Cliff is a guy I remember.

Chris Terreri was able to carve himself a decent NHL career despite being 4'9" and 93 lbs. The last starter for NJD before a guy named Brodeur, he started the practice of having a water bottle on the nets. While the modern day mask style came into popularity during the height of his career, Terreri said, "Nah, I shant taketh my health and well-being into consideration, for I will continue to wear this inferior bucket for reasons no mortal could possibly understand." He was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the expansion draft and traded ON THE SAME DAY back to NJD.



Chris is a guy I remember.

A goalie drafted by expansion and then returned to his team the very same day. So that's a thing. Huh.

I don't remember him being such a goony looking guy, but HDTV didn't exist back then. He died early from a blood disorder.

He and Bill Guerin on the same line in NHL 95 = domination.

Also scored the goal to push the Matteau game into OT.

Kevin Dineen was a RW who, much to my surprise, played 19 years in the NHL. Dineen is best known for his time with the Whalers, and banged home 25 goals as a 21-year old rookie for the Whalers in 84-85, finishing 14th in the Calder race (the Calder was won by a nobody that year who flamed out soon after winning the trophy). Dineen played in two All-Star games -- 1988 and 1989 -- and in the latter season put up 45-44-89 for his best offensive season of his career. Dineen would go on to play for the Flyers, Senators, Hurricanes (RIP Whale) and Blue Jackets, before hanging them up after the 02-03 season. After his career ended, Dineen coached the Florida Panthers for two seasons before being canned two months into his second season. He is currently an assistant on Joel Quenneville's staff in Chicago.

Man, I don't even know where to begin here...it's like sensory overload haha...I'll start with players I really liked...

Oleg Saprykin - 11th overall pick by Calgary in 1999. Made the team out of camp before ending up back in junior...not your prototypical softer Russian...he played with sandpaper and grit...couldn't quite protect the puck as well along the boards as Alexander Frolov, but maybe closer to St. Louis' Ivan Barbashev or a more hockey-focused Leo Komarov...Saprykin offered some 'tude on the rink at times and too much at other times...he clocked former Penguin Micki Dupont in the head with a stick once in the Dub...his dad was a junior-aged backup for Vladislav Tretiak once upon time...

Saprykin once got Canada to within one win of its first Stanley Cup, as a country, since 1993...

I was 9 at the time...I dunno, had a soft spot for him.

Ron Flockhart was traded to the Pens for Rich Sutter, which was viewed (at least on my school bus) as a good trade.

Wayne McBean was a left-handed defenseman who played for the Kings, Islanders, and Jets from the late 80s through the mid 90s. McBean was selected 4th overall in the 1987 entry draft by the Kings, but was soon traded to the Island for goalie Kelly Hrudey. McBean never lived up to his potential, and was out of the NHL after the 1993-1994 season, at the young age of 24. McBean's best offensive statistical season came in 1990-1991, when he posted a 5-14-19. I remember him because childhood me thought his name was very funny to say.

Similarly, I loved Bob Boughner, because his last name sounded like Booger.

I remember Gary Roberts, because his stare frightened me so much that I hid in terror under my bed and only now just emerged. Anything interesting happen in the last ten years?

Coming off a successful World Championship with Russia, German Titov came to the NHL at the tender age of 28. After five productive seasons with the Flames, he was traded to Pittsburgh with Todd Hlushko for David Roche and the Pens' beloved backup Kenny Wregget in June 1998. "The Tank" would play parts of two seasons with the Penguins, scoring 28 goals and 70 assists in 135 games, before he was dealt to the Oilers at the 2000 deadline for Josef Beranek. He would play two more years in Anaheim before returning to Russia. Titov finished his NHL career with 377 points in 624 games.
