Why is OV not signed?
He is coming off of a $9.5M cap hit, and they have $9.7M space, with no NHL capable goalies signed beyond Copley (so-so backup).
They can go 10% over the cap during the summer, but I suppose that they do not want to paint themselves into a corner yet. They will need to make moves. I am still surprised that they protected Oshie in the ED. He still produces, but he will be 35 in a few months and has $5.7Mx4 left on his contract. That $5.7M extra would be HUGE right now.

Based on how the draft went, I'm unsure they still wouldn't take Vanecek. Given that GMRF was all cheesed about salary cap.

Alex Ovechkin is expected to sign a four-year deal worth around $10 million with Washington once all is said and done. They’re trying to shed salary (Kuznetsov) and will continue their trade talks.

Vegas signing Martinez again, which puts them over the cap, which means they have to trade one of Lehner or MAF. Rumored that Lehner and NJ could be a thing.

Other than a couple stupid penalties he was great as the 2C. If they could find a way to ditch that Bob contract they could be a real contender.

Washington is clearing cap to sign a 36 year old, sub-point-per-game player to $10 million per year until he's 40...
I'm surprised that they got that much for Dillon...but considering what Ristolainen got, I guess guys that just maul players in corners and struggle in rush absorption situations are en vogue right now...
