Caps Twitter guy should walk into traffic as well.
this might be the worst thing the internet has ever produced. I hate it with every quark that makes up my existence

I would root every game that Vontaze Burfict would shred a knee ligament or two that would end or ruin his career. I eventually got my wish. I root for the same thing with this jackass. I don't think it really got all that much attention and it only garnered one replay but at the end of the Pens 3-0 win on Saturday night, Lafferty took a run at Wilson at the blue line and popped him pretty good against the boards by the bench. Wilson about lost his mind in a 'how dare you hit me like that' mode. But since the horn had sounded, he wasn't able to get after Lafferty like he wanted to. I wonder if more people tried to legally take him out if that would get him off his offensive game more than usual and put him on tilt to take himself out of the game. Either way, I hope the Rangers get aggressive with him tomorrow night and basically turn that next game into 60 minutes of line brawls.

Good on the Rangers to release that statement.

That’s awfully spicy.

Also feel like this is a tipping point, despite the whiff from DOPS. Going after a star and throwing cheap shots after the whistle is a completely different animal than a hit to the face that half the league is ok-ish with to begin with.

I think he’s spent all his political capital around the league at this point and he’s gonna start to feel that.

...hey pens Twitter. How bout a retweet? Maybe @ the blues and bruins to join in?

This is a public story now. There’s a high chance the caps sat down with him today to tell him to lay low until playoffs.

...would be a good opportunity for the rags to bait him imo. He’s gonna be pretty flaccid other than asking guys to drop gloves.

Good for the Rangers. I'm just imagining the responses if the Pens released something like that

It’s very similar to Lemieux’s statement following that Islanders **** show.
Hockey is a tough, physical game, and it always should be. But what happened Friday night on Long Island wasn't hockey. It was a travesty. It was painful to watch the game I love turn into a sideshow like that.

"The NHL had a chance to send a clear and strong message that those kinds of actions are unacceptable and embarrassing to the sport. It failed.

"We, as a league, must do a better job of protecting the integrity of the game and the safety of our players. We must make it clear that those kinds of actions will not be tolerated and will be met with meaningful disciplinary action.

"If the events relating to Friday night reflect the state of the league, I need to re-think whether I want to be a part of it."

IIRC, there was a lot of the “Matt Cooke was a Penguin” and “Mario was a dirty player” type of comments from the usual suspects (Wysh, Larry Brooks, etc.)

No need to call that kid up. He hasn’t played in the show yet and it isn’t fair to ask him to goon it up in his first

Just have Kreider run Backstrom like he runs goalies. It’ll snap Backstrom in half most likely. And have the conversation with Wilson in warmups. “Tell Lavy not to put Nicky on the ice with me because I’m going to bury that piece of euro trash”

Pretty sure Kreider is out right now with an LBI.

Could be misremembering though

He hasn't lost yet. He's better than Hasak.

Found this quote on Reddit from a paywalled Athletic article.
“Parros, we’ve heard, didn’t even want to suspend Wilson for the brain-damaging assault on Boston’s Brandon Carlo, who suffered mood changes and blurry vision from his concussion after being hospitalized by Wilson in March. Bettman didn’t like the optics and ordered a suspension. So Wilson got seven games. Before that, he wasn’t even considered a repeat offender, because the CBA erases priors after a certain period of time transpires. Just absurd.”

Yup...

Not sure what Cooke can say that hasn’t already been said. And Cooke and Wilson are not similar players. The only thing that ties them together are the suspensions Wilson is a bully and Cooke took advantage of guys in bad spots. Apples and oranges

There are blogs posting snippets. I haven’t seen anything interesting. Seems like there’s an undertone of “what I did was ok because hitting is complicated but what he did was bad because it was after the whistle.”

It doesn’t really seem like anything. If it’s from the athletic I would have thought it was some sort of mea culpa or something.

...I think Cooke is still probably a bad dude
