That's fair...I don't see Weekes - or anyone - very often. I strictly have time to watch games, if I stumble across - particularly an American studio person - it's by pure accident. I generally watch HNIC though. Basically, I'm pulling a Chuck and watching five minutes of studio people and deciding if they're talented or not...

Since the Penguins did the Brassard trade February 2018, there have been only four 3-way trades. All four have the middle team retaining for very little (a 4th or a 5th)

Of the 4, meaning 12 team's involvement (3x4):
Chicago involved in 2 of them (sending out the main player both times)
Columbus involved in 2 of them (sending out the main player both times)
San Jose involved in 2 of them (retaining both times)
Vegas involved in 2 of them (acquiring the main player both times)
Toronto involved in 2 of them
Detroit and Tampa rounding out the 12.

Does Spittin Chicklets talk about hockey or is it still all meta commentary about being a hockey player?

Is Charles Barkley a hoops expert at this point? No. Do people tune in and watch hoops because he's entertaining? Yes

We have/had guys that know hockey on NBC and provide not much else. Jones/Millbury/Pierre etc. Casual fans don't give a sht about them. If we want to continue to be a niche sport then we can stick with the status quo

Just looking at some recentish players that retired I’d give shots to,

Ryan Callahan
Alex Burrows
Shane Doan
Mike Fisher
Andrew Ference

Ference might be a really good sneaky pick for tv.

Speaking of, the TV deal with TNT appears to be off to a roaring start

How the **** do you put a dude who has been retired for like 5 years on your graphic? Are they really that out of touch that they don't know what Connor McDavid looks like?

Also, random Pittsburgh skyline shot in the background. What a mess.

"Hey, design team, get me a graphic announcing the new deal. Put some stars on there. I don't know...maybe Ovechkin and that kid from Edmonton."

Classic r/notmyjob territory.

Oh wait, they just googled Oilers captain and chose the first picture of a dude with a C on his jersey. Nailed it.

Fisher, the player, always struck me as a generic meathead, and Doan seems like a top 5 boring human on planet earth. Are their off ice personas any good?

Pass on Fisher because of the possibility of having to hear about Carrie Underwood at any point.

Do people actually think Subban is funny, or is it just that he tries that's endearing?

I think he's basically at 4th grade-level, comedy wise. The Listerine bit is aging like milk and most of his shtick is centered around goofy faces and dane cook energy. Whitney I could tell was a legit entertainer from those children's hospital videos. Subban's a guy that moved to Hollywood to get famous but has to dress like Spiderman on the walk of fame.

I didn't know he has such a comedy background. He hosted the "late night" sorta show at the all-star game a couple years back and I thought he did pretty well

I doubt Subban can talk about the game intelligently because he can’t play the game intelligently
