What mikey said - JR was a declining star and the contract almost made sense when he signed it.

How do you feel about Ovechkin in Washington, btw? The rumor seems to be that he is going for the most goal scored record. Will this turn into a Messier situation, where the team plays for him to score goals? He has probably earned it for beingtheir franchise player, but he still needs a lot of goals...

Yeah, I mean, look at that number and look at how he plays...he's not serious about winning...

As a Caps season ticker holder, I can say that the team plays for him to score goals now, and basically always has.

While there is some chicken/egg argument, all offensive plays are designed to feed him the puck to shoot. They entire PP is to feed him the puck to shoot. While situation sometimes force him to carry the puck, nothing is designed for him to have the puck on his stick for more than a fraction of a second (1-timer). Also, at the end of games, as soon as the opposing goalie starts skating off Ovechkin will stand on the bench to change on, whether it is his shift or not... empty net = potential free goal.

None of that takes away from the goal total... but it is what it is.

I’m not looking forward to the “is Backstrom a HoF’er” discussions that will eventually happen.

I hate so many specific details about that team.

If I had to pick a favorite Cap, it would probably be Backstrom.

Blues are the 16th team to announce proof of vaxx being required to attend their home games.

Backstrom plays skilled and clean. Maybe the only guy in the organization who isn’t herpes on skates.

But he’s a non-competitive, unathletic waif who would be putting up 70 points a year if he got drafted by Minnesota instead. I don’t like where he sits in the general hockey rankings and he’s a “hall of very good” for me.

…also I’ve wished bad things for him since his “F*** this league” hissy fit after game 4 in ‘18.

Still can’t confirm that I’ll get every Pens game, so I’m sticking with CI this season. If I can confirm this, I’ll switch next season.

So add a VPN to my existing ESPN+ subscription and I’m golden?

In theory but I guess we won’t know until it goes live.

Thank you! ESPN should have been more clear about this, because there is a hell of a lot of confusion around what you get online, and I'm sure their subscriber numbers would be better had they done this from the start. I'll download the app on my Sony to make sure that it works properly before switching.

The quality on the ESPN app doesn't look that great, but I do need to tweak the picture settings, as my Sony TV apparently uses the "App" setting, and not the "App (Video)" setting that I have configured for Netflix, etc. I'll subscribe in October and figure I can always drop it and sign up for CI again if it is that bad.

Chara to the Isles. Every shithead in the league is required to never leave our division once they arrive.

How do they even have the cap space? They're at like, 86 million, and that's without announcing what Parise and Chara signed for, according to CapFriendly.
