He represents the owners, so he will always be the face of the blame for the lockout and other issues.
Edit: shmengy covered it.

The lockout is more on the players.
Expansion is only bad if the brim fails to fill in a timely manner. That's TBD. It looks like it's well on its way. The league hasn't been this deep since 1966 imo.
Firing individuals out of teams' front offices, namely former players, is not in his or anyone's job description at the NHL front office.

He doesn’t run some mom and pop store where he can fire anyone fall willy nilly. He is simply the mouthpiece for the owners and trying to make a business as successful as possible. He’s done that second thing very well

I saw somewhere that the NHL ratings last night on ESPN were pretty abysmal.

I mean DoPS, for example. Maybe “front office”’is the wrong term.
Don’t care if the league is loaded. We still have multiple non-viable rosters. We’re at a surplus of teams that goes back to at least the Tampa/Ottawa year.

October hockey is lame. Season should start in late November and wrap up before the end of May.I saw somewhere that the NHL ratings last night on ESPN were pretty abysmal.

I stand corrected....good numbers for the NHL I guess but overall under a million is bad for a major sports league on ESPN.
Hockey Randomness
That’s surprisingly low for being the “most watched” opening night on cable ever.

Yeah that's what I meant...under a million is bad. I'd be curious to where it ranked on the night overall...I'd guess not in the top 20.
Hockey Randomness
Sure but I think you have to compare apples to apples. Hockey isn't going to double its audience the first night with ESPN just because of a new station. It's still good for hockey, just hope it keeps growing
Hockey Randomness
Oh I’m sure it makes top 20. It won’t come close to MLB obviously and it’s almost definitely below whatever was on Fox News and MSNBC but I’d say easy top 20.Yeah that's what I meant...under a million is bad. I'd be curious to where it ranked on the night overall...I'd guess not in the top 20.

And Tucker Carlson beat Braves/Brewers. That’s crazy.
Also My Big Fat Fabulous Life beat both hockey games.

Wait... NHL got poor TV ratings? Say it ain't so. That is so unlike all of televised hockey history! Oh wait, no, it is literally completely normal. Yet surprising to some?
Hockey Randomness
I don’t tend to watch pregame or intermissions, but this is fantastic.

TNT putting the PP clock on the ice is good stuff. That’s one that’ll catch on.

If anybody is interested in Kraken jerseys, they will soon be available at MEIGray. You can even get Ryan Donato's first Kraken goal jersey for the low, low price of... yes, that says $10,000.
https://www.meigray.com/UserFiles/Image ... ctors2.pdfFellow Collector:
The Seattle Kraken-MeiGray Game-Worn Program kicked off last night, when the Kraken wore four Inaugural Game Sets of jerseys in a thrilling 4-3 loss to the Golden Knights in Vegas.
MeiGray is continuing to make Program Request Calls for Pre-Orders, so thanks to all of you for your patience as we work through the nearly 350 requests. A few updates:
1. Because of NHL Covid Protocols and the uncertain availability of players until just before game time, the Kraken created four sets of 27 jerseys for last night's Inaugural Game. The warmup set and the third period set remain property of the team. The Starting Six players for the first game in Kraken History, jerseys worn during the first period, will be separated from the remaining 21 jerseys that will go up for auction later this week at meigrayauctions.com. Those six players will have their second period jerseys in auction.
2. The remainder of the second-period set, and the game-issued jerseys from the second-period set, are available for retail sale. This set includes the second-period jersey worn by Ryan Donato, who scored the first goal in Seattle Kraken History. That jersey is available for $10,000.
3. Pre-order calls will continue to be made, and once they are complete we will distribute a list of remaining jerseys for pre-order ... and then next week if any jerseys remain we will post them for sale at MeiGray.com.
Stay tuned for information on Warmup Pucks from the Kraken's first NHL games, and an update on MGG's plans for the Inaugural Game in Seattle on October 23 vs. Vancouver.

It will surprise Mikey how they’re still a non-competitive loser squad.
