I also don’t think that 99 should be retired league wide.

Considering that Utah uses the beehive as a symbol, I think the Salt Lake City Bees would be the best name, although there is already a minor-league baseball team in town with that name. That team, however, is owned by one of the Jazz's minority owners (with the company that wants to buy the Yotes being the majority owner) and managed by the same company that owns the Jazz, so I bet a deal could be done to switch names.

Some jag in my section got pissy at me for disagreeing so I'm asking the board:

Standing up in the middle of play: yea or nay?

The guy was pissed an usher told him to sit down. Guy pestered me for an answer on the way out, I said you can't stand up in the middle of play because you ruin the experience for everyone else. He was not a fan of that answer and complained about fairweather fans.

What say you all?

He was standing in the middle of play at a random point in the 3rd period because he thought that's what "real fans" do.

His words, not my paraphrase.

I guess I'm asking was there an odd man rush or something about to happen, or did he just get up and stand there like a doofus on a neutral zone regroup

He was standing for a solid 3ish minutes of game action

Real fans have to be corrected by an usher.

Dude is probably a woo'er.

Only place it was acceptable to stand during play was the last row of F.

I've had issues in my section with people entering and exiting mid-play, and not even attempting to do it with any urgency. I'm generally pretty nonconfrontational but have started getting pretty vocal about it lately

Yeah if there is a 2 on 1 late or something then stand away and sit back down when it’s over.

My understanding is in some places like Nashville people stand the entire game which, I don’t know why you’d do that but if it’s local custom.

Otherwise STFD.

Salt Lake Swarm

Ooh, that's a good one. It ties into the bees but that the same time seems a little tougher. I mean, a bee is nothing to worry about, but a no one wants to be around a swarm. And it has a nice alliteration with the S in Salt. I think that would be a great name for a SLC team. :thumb:

The new Utah state flag (as of 2023) is red, white, and blue with a gold beehive on it. The uniforms could be the same: primary RWB with a bee logo adding the gold. The bee logo would be inside a hexagon, which is also taken from the Utah flag and from bee honeycombs. I'd play up that hexagon just like the Pens play up the triangle.

A red, white, and blue hockey jersey? That's really thinking outside of the box. ;)

It feels very collegey to stand for the majority of the game. Then again, Nashville loves their college chants so that checks out.

Well, a bee-themed team would probably make the most sense to be black and gold, but we don't want another of those, do we.
