I surprisingly don't agree...at least not the few dozen episodes that I have seen...

Wait, so some games are only going to be available on a paid streaming platform?
Hockey Randomness
Correct. 75 games will be exclusive to either ESPN+ or Hulu. Not sure if it'll be one or the other or simulcasts though.Wait, so some games are only going to be available on a paid streaming platform?

Got it, thanks. That's **** horrible, but whatever.Correct. 75 games will be exclusive to either ESPN+ or Hulu. Not sure if it'll be one or the other or simulcasts though.Wait, so some games are only going to be available on a paid streaming platform?

Am I reading all this correctly? If I currently have NHL.tv, I can stream every game (ignore blackout rules). But the replacement ESPN+ may not be streaming all the games?
Hockey Randomness
No that's incorrect. NHL.tv will be merged with ESPN+ so now instead of subbing to NHL.tv, you'll sub to ESPN+. I don't know if it'll be an additional price on top of the $6/month but we'll see. You'll still get all those out of market games. ESPN+ & Hulu will also have 75 exclusive nationally televised games, so your sub will cover that also. That's why I think the NHL.tv component of ESPN+ will be at an extra cost.Am I reading all this correctly? If I currently have NHL.tv, I can stream every game (ignore blackout rules). Did they mention Center Ice at all?

OK, thanks. I was confused by reading all those last few posts. Here's hoping that the overall yearly fee for ESPN+/NHL package is not greater than the ~$140 NHL.tv fee.No that's incorrect. I forgot that was still a thing. I haven't heard anything about it.Did they mention Center Ice at all?

I'm just annoyed that I'll now have to stream a bunch of games just to watch, and it'll be some shitty stream I find on Reddit, because I don't subscribe to other random streaming services. Garbage.

By the way, TNT will not be home to the NHL's most favorite made-up attraction Wednesday Night Rivalry. AEW will still air at its usual day/time.

There is a plan that they will bring fun to the table, like the NBA guys...that's a potential plus. There are a lot of good personalities in hockey...we can totally gas Keith Jones (who will likely stay with NBC because of his local coverage), Eddie Olczyk (same), Anson Carter (shouldn't be at the NHL level), etc.
I'd bring over Patrick Sharp, I'd consider bringing over Kevin Weekes, I'd give Dan O'Toole a call now that he's available...there are some folks out there and we could build a good show for a new audience...show off the damn game too...Connor McDavid is doing unspeakable things to the league right now, he's on a fast track to being a historically great player...

Agreed here.Source of the post I'd bring over Patrick Sharp, I'd consider bringing over Kevin Weekes

They need someone like Bieksa, but more importantly, they need a personality who also has the resume a la Charles Barkley, or Pedro Martinez for MLB.
Hockey Randomness
Not saying Sharp is bad, but tbh he doesn't have much in the way of actual personality.
Though I guess you could say that about a lot of former hockey players.

Unpopular opinion here, probably, but bring Shaq on at times for the comedy factor alone.

I don't think Brett Hull or Chris Chelios were very good in the studio as I recall...Ray Ferraro lives in Vancouver, so I doubt they could swing that full-time...
Pronger and Luongo both work for Florida right now, so I doubt they'd go...
Brodeur doesn't seem that fun and I think he's on the executive track anyhow...
Maybe you can get Joe Thornton in a year...I don't know what Mike Modano does these days, and I don't really know his personality...
I'm assuming Jeremy Roenick is still canceled...
Sharp is no Shaq or Pedro certainly...but he did a lot in the league...handsome fella too...

I'd be surprised if they didn't leverage Barkley at times...Barkley routinely goes to bat for the Stanley Cup Playoffs...
Hockey Randomness
Yeah hard pass on Shaq or Barkley in a permanent role. I like them on the NBA telecasts, but the humor that they'd bring to hockey would be at the expense of the game. It'd be "As they say in hockey, let's do that hockey" level of humor.

I know, Weekes trying to a Saturday Live impersonation of Stuart Scott is very annoying...but he's a charismatic guy, and one that will be swept into a front office fairly soon anyhow...

I think that would actively push people away actually...he is not well liked. I also think he wants to be in Hollywood...

small point...he's polished, not charismatic IMO. nothing off the cuff. built in a lab.I know, Weekes trying to a Saturday Live impersonation of Stuart Scott is very annoying...but he's a charismatic guy, and one that will be swept into a front office fairly soon anyhow...
i want imperfection combined with expertise. like Barkley USED to be. Now Chuck just watches 5 minutes of a game and guesses what's going on. gimme a goofball who is also well informed.
