Yeah...Barzal can either be a star in this league or a talented guy with loser habits, like Konecny. I’d prefer the former (though I wish he was on a different team). Maybe this helps guide him.Barzal got fined 2 Gs for diving. Love it.

TIL that Bob Hartley is the head coach of KHL champion Omsk. So, that's 3 titles in 3 countries (NHL, Switzerland, KHL) for the guy...

I don't mean to be disrespectful...but I'm a little surprised about the fanfare...history won't remember Ryan Miller that easily...like, I'll always know the name, but he's like Cam Ward with a plus for me...
Like, he wasn't even Marty Turco good...and we already forgot about him...

I didn’t want to say it. He had one interesting season, and that’s that. Him being American ain’t doin it.

I think a lot of it is in the moment stuff. 18 years as an NHL goalie is a long **** time and guys recognize that. I did chuckle when the broadcast crew referred to it as a hall of fame career. If that’s the case then meow better ready his induction speech as well.I don't mean to be disrespectful...but I'm a little surprised about the fanfare...history won't remember Ryan Miller that easily...like, I'll always know the name, but he's like Cam Ward with a plus for me...

No one said he's Marty Brodeur. Just a cool moment

That's how I viewed it. He was a good goalie who had a respectable career.Source of the post Just a cool moment

Miller is not hall of fame worthy. 7 good years with buffalo, thats about it. nah.

Hall of Fame Worthiness Debate: Good Take (I don't think he is, but I've never been one in any sport to have deep caring of who's in or out)

It's not that it happened, it's just that it's weird it happened for him. Maybe I'm just not remembering, but like, did anyone do this for, say, Pat Verbeek...? Or Jason Allison...?
Hockey Randomness
Depends, when did Verbeek or Allison announce their retirement?
If they did it before the end of the season, then maybe the times have changed and there's more respect for longevity now?
If they announced it during an offseason, then of course guys wouldn't have been able to line up.
I think also, you have to take Olympic history into account here. Wouldn't shock me if it was Dustin Brown who suggested it considering how often he and Miller played together on the national team(s).

Explain your difference of opinion on Miller playing a million games as a goalie and Marleau playing a million games as a forward? Is it that Marleau broke a record so he deserves more r-e-s-speev-e-t?I don't mean to be disrespectful...but I'm a little surprised about the fanfare...history won't remember Ryan Miller that easily...like, I'll always know the name, but he's like Cam Ward with a plus for me...

I don't care much for Marleau in this context...he's not even close to being a HOFer for me either...but, yeah, sure Marleau broke a record for the most games ever played in the history of the league...he got a pair of misspelled gloves and some ball taps from the other team...
Ryan Miller wasn't even as noteworthy of a player as Marleau was probably...
Miller played the 18th most games in history by a goalie...right there with Nikolai Khabibulin and Gilles Meloche...*yawn*

Turco was an entertaining player/guy. Anyone remember the panty bunching when he bet a fan 5 bucks on the bench about something. Should have been a feel good story but people wanted to whine.I didn't forget about Marty Turco. I won't forget Ryan Miller.

People can celebrate whatever they want. Nobody here has a personal stake so mikey expressing confusion on why he matters is sorta what these message boards are about.
Miller at no point in his career was a goalie that I was worried about the pens facing. And outside of 1 good season, I don’t think he would have ever been in the conversation of “tier 1 goalie” at any time. He accomplished a lot as a goalie who played small and maybe that pluckiness, along with the Olympics, is why people like him. Or it was that table hockey commercial he did where he was 5% more charismatic than the median player
I dunno...I don’t even think he’s an NHL footnote the more I think about it. This is...odd. It feels like people are just saying goodbye to an era - not a player.
