I'd personally like to see either Kessel or Crosby to win it. Kessel would be such a big FU to Toronto and the Conn Smythe is one of the few things Sid has not achieved.

If Crosby has the impact in the final he had in the Conference final - 3GWGs and a beast on the way to winning the series - that ought to be enough to overcome Paveski's point lead. Though if we the Pens raised the Cup I could live with Pavelski getting it in a losing cause.

Why would it be an f u to toronto? The trade they made didnt say "this player isnt good".

The trade said "we don't want you on our team anymore and we are willing to continue to pay you to play for another franchise" which is more a slap in the face to me

Talk about the Kessel trade always makes me want to rewatch this, so I will:

Wish he was a Pens fan, would blow the doors off of all Pittsburgh media.

I'm on the Letang train, but he'd be outside the top 5 for most voters though, right?

More than just me have him on their radar. He has been stellar in these playoffs. Hedman was better until late in the Pens series then he fell off. Petro would still be there if he wasn't eliminated, Burns has been more prone to defensive errors than Letang and meanwhile he plays 30 minutes a night on a team that depends on him much more than any other...Blues have two other #1s with Bouwmeester and Shatty, Sharks have Vlasic...Pens have a guy that was a healthy scratch for half of the ECF and Dumoulin...

Yeah, I'm kind of conflicted about Letang. He's obviously incredibly important for the Pens, and they're much worse off without him...but I can't shake the feeling that he's not playing as well as he could be.

He's had a tough few games recently, but the rest of the playoffs have been top drawer for him.

The bookies are not impressed with Letang.

That's what I've figured. Letang is terrific but he has no buzz.

The voters won't be turned off by the support kessel gets from his linemates. If he has a decent series and we win, it's his I think.

If Crosby plays another strong series, ie dominates like he did since the Conference Finals, he might pass Kessel.

I want Phil to win it just so that he can take a picture of himself eating a hot dog out of it and then send it to the toronto media and team usa.

If he plays the whole series like last night, quite possible.

Joe Paveleski of 0 goals and -4 in the SCF still makes the list, eh?

Before the series started folks had him pegged as winning even if the Sharks lost.

I mean, he was the clear pick from start to finish just about. Of course he still makes the list. It's not like the Super Bowl MVP where all you have to do is be relevant for a half of a game to be considered...this is a 60-day slugfest. He still makes the list comfortably, but him falling down from #1 for X number of weeks down to 4 is pretty damning. No one on the Sharks has really surpassed him...maybe you could argue Brent Burns, but being a riverboat gambler like he is, as created a lot of chances against him too...

No other Penguins have propelled themselves up to that level...I guess you could argue Murray, but his best series was back in Washington...other than that, he has had a net-neutral effect on the game in my opinion since then...except game 3 of the SCF, he flat out lost that game...

Source of the post No one on the Sharks has really surpassed him...
That's because all the Sharks you expect to have an impact are dead in the water. The SCF is being tallied by a bunch of Max Talbots. ;)

I like your Super Bowl analogy. It allows for a Cole/Rust/Sheary selection.

it's Kessel's to lose right now. Unless someone else goes on a tear, he should win it
