The Stanley Cup Playoffs 2016 megathread

There has to be a middle ground between full out offensive attack and hunkering down in your own zone, right?
You can make minor adjustments without a wholesale change. The Sharks were hemmed in for basically the entire time after they got the big lead...they had one rush that recall that resulted in a couple of chances because of an aggressive pinch by St. Louis, I think it created a 3-on-2...other than that, I think their only other chance was the empty netter...it just happens, you make a little adjustment to clog up the middle of the ice to allow out-numbered chances and as a result you allow some even-numbered chances from an aggressive, desperate team...in football, you go to a Cover 3 or a Prevent deal to just not allow a quick score...

It's the realization that the game you play has some faults, as most styles of play do, and that you're trying to make an adjustment to prevent goals...preventing shots is not essential...preventing goals is...in a game where 5.5 goals are scored per game, three ought to be enough to win. Asking for a fourth regularly is tough...

But it's not just our stars that get locked up in the playoffs, Vladimir Tarasenko couldn't be found in the entire Conference Final until scoring two in the last few minutes of a 4-0 game in game 6...sometimes you go out there and your power play doesn't score...sometimes the other team is good and they get a push on you for a length of time...

It's not like NHL 94 where you can just dominate the computer, there's another team playing to win also...and everyone is basically the same out there in that regard...

Pens-Sharks would be a lot of fun
Yeah, but what time are those west coast games going to start?
9 PM at the latest, which would still suck, but what are ya gonna do?
Cup Finals schedule if #Pens win. All games @ 8p:
G1 Mon @ Pit
G2 Wed @ Pit
G3 6/4 @ SJ
G4 6/6 @ SJ
G5 6/9 @ Pit
G6 6/12 @ SJ
G7 6/15 @ Pit

Bob Cole calls the Sharks the North Stars. That's some random drift right there boy.
Not too extremely, since the Sharks were essentially split off from the North Stars when the owner wanted to leave, reversing the merger in 79 when the Seals franchise went bye-bye. So not so much the North Stars as the Seals...
