Personally, I find stick incidents like this to be worse than shots to the head. I understand the danger with shots to the head and why they tend to be the primary focus of "strict" suspensions, but there are a lot of factors that can go into someone inflicting a blow to the head. This is just one d-bag deciding to swing his stick into someone's face. There's no speed or movement or height or how you line a player up or any other factor. Just premeditatedly using a piece of equipment as a weapon. I would prefer to see a suspension of 10+ games, would be amazed if the league did something as strict as the rest of the regular season and a playoff game or two, and fully expect to hear 2 games or less.

In a video announcing the suspension, the NHL department of player safety called Keith's action "an intentional and retaliatory act of violence by a player with a history of using his stick as a weapon."

I am having a hard time reconciling this statement and the suspension only being six games. If you take their declaration at face value, how do you not ban him for the rest of the season?
