I mean what is it going to take for Torts to fall out of the favor with the NHL and not get hired for anything? No way should that guy be in charge of coaching Team USA.

If the argument was that the boys club hired Bylsma and it fell flat on its face, it wasn't right to swing so far to the other side.

I have never been a fan of Tortorella's, and I, too, am confused about why he continues to get these positions.

I remember reading articles last year when Torts got the columbus job about how he had change. His son being in the military had given him a different perspective.

You win one stanley cup as a coach and sadly you'll always get a chance to be a HC in the league

Kessel's having quite the year, having both won a Stanley Cup and the Internet.

Oh man, it gets even better:
Josh Pauls, a forward for U.S. National Sled Hockey Team went after Team USA hard in a tweet shortly before Team Canada beat the Americans 4-2. The loss prevented Team USA from getting into the semifinal round. The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team has won three gold medals and one bronze in the event. Pauls is a two-time gold medalist.

Really glad I was born without legs. The US sled team has a much better track record of success than the US stand up men's team….

I saw Josh Pauls' tweet yesterday, it was just before Phil tweeted. If Kessel hadn't have tweeted, I said this would have won Twitter for the day.

It still is an incredible tweet.

I saw that last night, but that's the harsh reality. Sure, Team NA had a lot of younger players - but the US had no reason to skip out on actual skill players in favor of grit.

Torts benched both of his Columbus players last night, one who's sole reason was to shut Crosby down (with decent success too). His decisions made zero sense.

This was my favorite part of his strategy. Dubinsky has to be losing his damn mind right now over continually being **** over by Torts year after year. I love it.

With regards to Team USA, I didn't think they'd go far at all after seeing the initial roster, and watching them play confirmed that. That said, I did enjoy reading garbage articles on them, like this gem from ESPN:
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- From a pure hockey standpoint, Team Canada is filthy rich in talent.

But Team USA was built to steal that fame and fortune at the World Cup of Hockey.

...

Is Canada really the better team, though?

No.

In terms of team concept, Team USA has the upper hand.

...

The American roster was built to slow down Canada. Every team has some level of depth in this tournament, but Team USA has the right kind of depth.
I do not know who wrote that, but I would expect that when the editor told him/her that he was to write about this story, the first reply was "Hockey... is that the one with ice?"

Nice!
The only thing that would've made Phil's tweet better would be him saying he was sitting around watching YT highlights of Tyler Johnson and Justin Faulk.

I'm confused why players are upset with Kessel's tweet. It's clearly directed at management, not the players on the ice.

I don't think he mentioned who it was directed at, but I have to assume both Kessel and Pauls.

No way he's referring to Pauls. He's talking about Kessel and Ryan.

He's not going to threaten a legless man with "those comments are there and have been read and I think will be remembered."

There is none. Backes is just embarrassed because his team just got whooped and he knows he shouldn't have made the cut in the first place.
