The best thing about Seattle was they selected a random guy from Columbus, and turns out he was a soon to be UFA because he re-signed with Columbus today.

Seattle really seemed to go HAM on the idea of Driedger having the opportunity to be the man in net. Guess that’s over now. Lasted a whole week. I don’t blame them for taking an upgrade from the open market, and **** Colorado in the process, but it sucks for Driedger. They added two legit forwards today to help bring them above “AHL contender” status, but without some more offensive fire power they’re gonna have to win games with soccer scores.

And they have 10 million tied up in goaltending now.

They must have a plan but I don’t see it. They left so many good players on the table for what most assumed would be the ability to be big time players on free agency but I’m not overwhelmed by any means with their pickups so far.

If they are playing the long game, why would you sign Driedger to that contract to be a backup?

The plan seems to be acquire assets to flip by year 3. The core gets built through the Amateur Draft, not the Expansion Draft. Its essentially what VGK did, but VGK had the privalege of being first and got lucky on a few players hitting immediately. But that allowed them to flip players for other players and considerations.

Its the same methodology that the dude with the craigslist paper clip turned into a house or whatever.

He might be a stud, I have no idea, but for the last few drafts, the first player that I didn't know wouldn't hit til around the 100th pick...this year, it was Seattle's pick at 35...I have no clue who he is haha

From what we saw, there’s no way Kahun isn’t a legitimate top 9 forward in this league. This guy must be the world’s worst lockerroom presence to be shipped around like he his.

Buffalo goaltending at the moment:
Craig Anderson, 40, $750k
Aaron Dell, 32, $750k
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, 22, $778k
Dustin Tokarski, 31, $725k

I guess when you spend all your money on paying people not to coach or manage your team anymore, you have to cut corners somehow...

By the way, they'll pay Christian Ehrhoff (last played for Buffalo in 2014) $857,000 this year...

That's why whenever people just toss out to buy someone out, I am strong against it.

I believe that he meant on the "payroll" because of the buyout. No cap hit but still eating revenue.

Sid is friends with Crotch...? He was linemates with Eichel, I'm not sure Sid has an allegiance to him...Crosby and him have never connected for a single point in either of their careers...

Full NTC until the final year where it’s an MNTC. I’ll Stan hard for pretty much every Pittsburgh area player who makes it to the show, but Saad does little to nothing for me. Low energy, low work ethic, low physicality player who has never really improved since he entered the league. Lead the league is shooting percentage last season. If he’s at his career average were talking about a guy who had 8 goals and 9 assists in 44 games last season and is probably getting a couple million for a couple years and not this long term commitment.
