How many push ups could you do? If you were given, say, $5 a push up, how many could you bang out?
Are we allowed to stop and then continue, or is it bang, bang, bang and if you stop that's it?

Prior to my shoulder problems, I could probably go 40-45ish continuous, 60-70 if we can do stop/go. But now with a tear in my rotator cuff? Heh, you could probably count it on two hands and possibly have a finger or two left. My right shoulder is kinda f'ed.
Got chosen in the lottery to do the half Rachel Carson Challenge. I've made a terrible mistake. 3 months to go from couch potato to hiking/running 18 miles.
This and the Pittsburgh Half are the two biggest races left to do on my list. I did a 25k last year, which I think is close to 18 miles. But that was also on a treadmill. Even without the hills and having drinks at the ready sitting beside you at all times, I would never recommend doing this.

Hopefully I can knock those two out before the next big birthday.

When I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Afghanistan there were sailors also running it. On ship, on treadmills. Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhh, no.

When I used to take the PFT in the Coast Guard, I failed the pull-up test every time. Embarrassing. Had to make up for it in the other events.

at what point do you decide that an ailment is bad/annoying enough to see a doctor?

a few weeks ago I ran a half marathon and was struggling afterwards. My ankle and knee in particular were killing me. My ankle has recovered fine but I ran 3 miles yesterday and my knee was in some pretty bad pain. I am concerned taht this is going to be a "any time I run" thing now

If you're asking, it sounds like you're there...

But I'm not some little weenie p*ssy boy, so I'd just rub some dirt on it...but hey, some people like their cucumbers pickled, do what you feel comfortable with...

while this is likely true I'd recommend resting it first. stop trying to "work through it". make an appointment and then if you feel better you can always cancel it.

Six weeks is my mark. If I have pain for six weeks, I seek medical help.

Is there swelling? That’s also a big thing for me. If there is no swelling, I don’t think it’s worth it

Does/has anyone here ever suffered from Meralgia paresthetica?

I'm fairly confident that's been the source of my thigh pain and numbness the past 3 to 4 weeks. I've been to the chiropractor 4 times and zero relief. Have resorted to some stretches I saw on YouTube with mild success.

Wondering if a deep tissue massage gun is a worthwhile investment to combat this pain? It seems to be worst at night and as I get up and moving, lessens a bit. I've been doing 3 to 4 mile walks daily and have had to recently cut them shorter because of the pain.

My left hip flexor was numb for a long time. It didn't affect anything, so I didn't go see a doctor or anything about it. It would come and go, so I figured it was how I was sleeping or sitting all day. However, I noticed I hadn't had any issues with it in a while - I've been getting a monthly deep tissue massage for about a year and half (minus a few months last year).

I would give a massage a shot.

I've never gotten one. Do you just call like a spa? Does insurance cover it if it's a "massage therapist"?

What you generally do is walk in with your horn hangin out and then say, "breakfast is served"...that's how they know you're not a cop...

Edit: I honestly thought I was in the DeShaun Watson thread...you may or may not want to take this advice mac...

There are franchises like “Hand and Stone” you can call. Dudes go there all the time. and they aren’t covered by insurance. About a hundred bucks an hour and you feel good for about half a day.

A Chiro with a massage option is the only thing I’ve seen insurance cover.

Yeah, my chiropractor has a massage therapist. Both of which are covered by my insurance, coincidentally.

These days I'm spending the vast majority of the day sitting at my home computer, and I noted that I was slouching some. I bought one of these posture Correctors from Amazon, and I think it's working. It's sort of like wearing a shoulder-holster rig that doesn't have the holster or mag pouches actually attached to it.
